In the month or so since publication, the corporate media has not carried a single notice of charges brought against the author by any of the named principals. It I were named and NOT involved, I'd certainly be in court seekeing a cease and desist order and defamation suit. Silence tends to speak volumes in this very specific case.
Ike's seminal warning against the military industrial complex (today's neo-fascists) was articulated by someone in the Commander In Chief's seat and wise enough to call out a warning to ALL Americans against the elements of greed, corruption and Hitlerian evil.
This is an eye opener and draws aside the curtains of a long running cabal to let the light of truth into the brandy and cigar smoke of those who not only stole the gold from the skulls of their victims in WW II but who seek to do so to our citizens of today.
Just think of the path our nation has traversed since that black day in Dallas and how a well balanced nation (economically, educated and well intended) has gone from hope to the economic despair that grips our country today. The enormous shift in wealth to the the very wealthy is almost obscene, our educational system is in disaray and the ultra wealthy are salivating at how to seperate the once vibrant middle class from its Social Security benefits and salt those funds away in the Swiss vaults safe from the American tax collectors.Read more ›
There are a couple of conclusions asserted that I considered questionable. For example, the presumption of a specific character's gender. The author is absolute on the person being a woman, but from beginning to end, I felt that the person (Sarah) was a man. If you consider this a possibility then you'll also have no choice except to feel there's a misinterpretation of the character's actions. The author did not pretend to have any real idea who this person actually is.
I do have *some* family related inside knowledge of the time period and the players, though my information is more of corresponding events in Western Europe at the time. The book really pushed me to think and dig through my own documents. There are situations described that are not public knowledge that I know to be factual.
If it is at all possible, I suggest a reading of Lynne Cheney's "Executive Privilege" at the same time you're reading "Against Them". In my opinion, the author is an insider from the era. For a moment I considered Ellsberg, but then decided it was unlikely when I looked closer. I have tried, albeit briefly, to figure out who he is, though I was unsuccessful.
I found this book engrossing, credible, and thought-provoking to the extent that I actually wrote eight pages of notes while reading. When I came across this book I was really excited. It did not fail to meet my expectations.
First, Vice President Dick Cheney (AS WELL AS Mark Felt) was Watergate's Deep Throat (in one way or another). This, alone, is more than enough to sound anybody's BS alarm, particularly because the corporate media have sold us a completely different story, but the evidence is there. Look for yourself.
Second, Watergate was more about the JFK assassination than about a "third rate burglary." This isn't an original idea, but the author makes the case in an original way, with a truckload of new "evidence" from an unimpeachable source.
Third, and most bizarrely, Dick Cheney's wife (the unimpeachable source) wrote a coded book about it. You can't get around it... Dick Cheney's wife wrote a coded, tell-all book about Watergate and the JFK assassination! File it under "This really happened!" Once you compare the texts (as I did), you can't get away from it. You can debate the details, but not the premise. This is "X-Files" material for the real world!
It would appear that Cheney and Rumsfeld (the "Neocon" war-makers) have been using the secrets encoded in Executive Privilege (now de-coded, to whatever extent, in Against Them) to blackmail people like Poppy Bush and Colin Powell (etc. etc.) for the last 30 or 40 years. The "Neocons" have been using the JFK assassination to blackmail the Old-Guard Republicans into fulfilling their geopolitical objectives. This brings new light to Powell's trip to the UN to sell the Neocon War on Iraq (among other things).
This book reads like a textbook, so the print version is much easier to navigate.Read more ›
