I've listened to those calamity predictors for all of my investment life. "Buy gold because the end is near!" "The national debt is too high and we won't be able to sustain ourselves by the end of the year." Perhaps one day, these perma-bears will be correct. But if I had listened to them, I would never have participated in the great bull markets of the last 20 years.
On the other hand, bad times do come. And there are appropriate times to protect oneself from those inevitable problems. How do you navigate those waters? How do you identify stock market bubbles? Andrei's book takes the reader through a systemic look at major "anomalies" in the past several hundred years, identifies patterns and lessons learned through each of these anomalies. And prepares you for how to respond to them?
Would you say that you have organized your life in a "resilient" manner that you will be able to prosper under a wide range of scenarios? I was not at the beginning of the book. Now I have to take a deep look at the way I invest and see how to best make those adjustments.
This is not a prediction book! Andrei is not predicting the market will go up or down in a certain time frame. The author does present a certain take on most recent events. That take is manly as a way to apply the tools you learn in this book to today's events and ways you can respond to those events.
I hope you will join me in reading this book.
Would’ve enjoyed to read more of his personal opinions but as he stated, that’s not what this book is about.
Worth a read, easy to digest.
