The sequence of workshops described in the book are effective in identifying both quick win changes along side work towards genuinely transformational outcomes. Change work feeds in to a managed process of "continual transformation", a process you could either build from scratch following the suggestion in chapter 5, or perhaps enhancing what your organisation already has in place. By ensuring that change work is managed and supported by appropriate feedback loops within the business we maximise our ability to follow through on our plans.
I think that the book is also a great case study in effective facilitation, offering a series of workshop activities that feed in to each other and an over-arching transformation process. The individual workshop activities themselves are composed from exercises that will be already familiar to many, but sequenced in a way that show-cases their purpose and maximises the value of their outputs. Each workshop activity is described in a separate and well referenced chapter, including supplementary ideas and tools that could be useful in support of each activity, and so the book also serves as a a helpful catalogue of workshop exercises to be used in other contexts.
The book is supported by an on-line delivery (and transformation) assessment tool, and a growing community of people putting the framework in to practice around the world (easy to find via the website for the book), and well worth becoming part of.
Agendashift: Outcome-oriented change and continuous transformation - share agreement on outcomes, collaborate on solutions (instead of fighting resistance to change), and take an evolutionary and on-going journey towards transformational goals. It's how we want to build our products, why wouldn't we want to change the way that we work in the same way?
Agendashift provides very pragmantic recommendations for how to create and sustain change despite today's challenges.
Moreover, I really like how the book the structure for every individual step: clarifiying the purpose - providing hands-on advice - going in-depth for background information - and pointing to the sources and additional reading material.
Agendashift is an other way of managing change. In an insightful and humble way, this non prescriptive approach brings together a set of extremely powerful tools to mobilize and engage people in a transformation initiative. The book is very well structured, we understand why the activities are bound together that way and Mike leads us skillfully through the process, step by step. A delight for group facilitation ! This is an excellent book that I highly recommend !
