About the authors

Katherine Swarts lives in Houston, Texas, where she grew up. She was a voracious reader by age 4 and a beginning writer by fifth grade. Her favorite topics (for reading and writing alike) are positive living, self-help, inspiration, Christian living, mental health, nature, and interesting facts.
Pet peeves:
Head-pounding music
Seeing her name misspelled
Having more things to do than time to do them in
Knowing that the average Houstonian wastes 75 hours a year sitting in traffic
Favorite things:
Travel
Learning
Bird walks
Unique coffee shops and restaurants
Quiet music, hymns, and country/bluegraass
Petting cats
Katherine attends Grace Presbyterian Church in Houston and volunteers at the Houston SPCA once a week.

Happy, healthy living and Christian encouragement are my specialties, inspired by personal struggles with depression and autism. I have written three "Sunday Afternoon Devotionals for the Heart" books that are currently being prepared for publication. Sample selection:
OPEN SKIES
“When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you” (Isaiah 43:2, NLT).
When torrents of pain pour upon you,
And mists from the rain blur your sight,
When even to breathe is a struggle,
And even the noon dark as night,
Remember that even in blackness,
God still makes a pathway ahead:
What seems like the flood that would drown you
May be showers of blessing instead.
When each onward step is a struggle
Through waters as deep as your chest,
When currents keep beating against you,
With never a moment for rest,
Remember that strength grows in striving,
And go where your Savior has led:
What seems like the flood that would drown you
May be showers of blessing instead.
As sure as the flood-days of Noah
Let humans get started again,
As sure as the Cross made a pathway
For all who were slaves to their sin,
As sure as salvation of thousands
Has sprung where the martyrs have bled,
What seems like the flood that would drown you
May be showers of blessing instead.
THINGS TO CONSIDER: What “floods” are overwhelming your life right now? (They may be “floods” of opportunity and responsibility as much as floods of problems.) What blessings can you see in them despite the struggle? Ask God to show you what He would have you learn.

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.
