Ellie Henshaw is in love– with someone who hasn’t even noticed she exists let alone reciprocates her feelings. Her friend decides to take the situation in hand, but she has never heard of the word subtle and her approach is causing Ellie sleepless nights. Deciding to turn to an exert instead, Ellie writes to an agony aunt.
Fliss Carmichael is also in love- with her husband. But as an agony aunt she knows that the course of true love is not always smooth and she suspects that her husband is no longer in love with her. She spends her day solving other people’s problems and watching her previously happy marriage begin to unravel at the seams.
But who does an agony aunt ask for advice? When Fliss mistakenly pours her heart out to Ellie the two become confidantes in a way neither of them could have imagined.
Will they be able to rescue each other or has true love failed them both?

About the author

Julie Butterfield belongs to the rather large group of 'always wanted to write' authors who finally found the time to sit down and put pen to paper - or rather fingers to keyboard.
She wrote her first book purely for pleasure and was very surprised to discover that so many people enjoyed the story and wanted more, so she decided to carry on writing.
It has to be pointed out that her first novel, 'Did I Mention I Won The Lottery' is a complete work of fiction and she did not, in fact, receive millions in her bank account and forget to mention it to her husband - even though he still asks her every day if she has anything to tell him!

Fliss thinks her marriage and life are almost perfect until Ellie’s letter makes her re-examine her own life and the flaws begin to appear. Her marriage now lacks the magic and heat that it once had but her husband doesn’t believe that anything is wrong or that things need to change. Fliss accidentally sends a response to Ellie that hints at the cracks in her marriage and the two strike up a friendly correspondence, helping each other navigate their own challenges.
Ellie believes she is in love with Logan, a co-worker whom she has never even had a conversation with. She even goes as far as to dump her longtime boyfriend Carl to pursue Logan. Ellie ignores the advice of friends and a possible rival for Logan’s affections until Fliss’s responses make her see reason.
The contrast between the two relationships is both interesting and at times challenging to read. I like the characters in the book and the struggles that they go through will draw readers in, but ultimately the ending is happy for everyone, just not quite in the way that readers might expect. Definitely an interesting read.
Fliss starts doing all sorts of things to get Jasper’s attention but in the process she has some serious mishaps! Fliss really fills like Jasper is having medical problems or else maybe another woman?
Then just has Ellie gets Logan interested in her and they go to the pub for a drink. Carl shows up and Logan believes that Ellie and Carl aren’t done yet. But Ellie’s co-worker Laura is always giving Ellie pointers and also and she lets Logan know where her and Ellie will be when they go to pubs. Laura is a busybody for sure and sometimes leads Ellie down the wrong path.
The restaurant scene was one of my favorite parts in this book and I did adore the ending! I would definitely recommend this book!
I did receive this as an ARC for and honest review from BookSirens.
There are lots of laugh out loud moments but there's also an heartbreaking episode in the past of one of the characters, so be aware if you have some triggers. This is for the most part a funny, lovely story with a very little part that will make you shed some tears.
Agony Auntics follow the journey of two women who are at different stages of their lives.
Ellie fell in love at first sight with a collegue but she is too shy to go and talk to him so she seeks some advices from a well known agony aunt, Fliss.
Ellie's email reminds Fliss of the beginning of her own relationship with her husband of 18 years. When she replies her the thoughts fly out of her mind and soon she understands that her marriage is changed and it isn't perfect as she and her husband show to their friends and acquaintances.
An unlikely friendship sprang up between our heroines, which continued email after email, advice after advice. Will they help each other to find happiness? Or there is no solution for their love problems? Find it out reading this book as soon as possible.
I loved how these two stories were told side-by-side. The blossoming of new love and a marriage needing tending to. Both Ellie and Fliss were so likable and relatable women you’d love to be friends with. Now I have to admit I wasn’t quite certain how Ellie thought she was in love with Logan a guy she’s never even talked to? Especially because she just got out of a relationship with a pretty good guy. Fliss I really felt for. She was trying so hard and Jasper wow he could be a real jerk. There were so many humorous moments in this book that had me laughing so hard tears were coming out my eyes. So the next time you’re in the mood for a good belly laugh pick this one up!
