This game, as amazing as it seemed it concept, was absolutely dreadful. The entire experience left me frustrated and disappointed. The art style is beautiful in the darkest way, clearly the talent from the developer worked in the art direction for Agony. Technically the game is an utter mess, overall the game functions but not without the most nauseating glitches I have seen in a long time. Watching the credits, I do realize the development team was small. In a perfect world, this IP would be wildly interesting if left in the hands of a more talented studio. Boss fights are a joke, simple gimmick battles. Any "stealth" section can be overcome by holding down sprint and running for the exit because conveniently enemies will stop chasing you as soon as you leave a room, or will get stuck in a wall on the way there.
Atrocious level design and hideous character models make for an agonizing experience when seeking immersion. Every time this game almost gripped me, I was released just as quick by some trash voice acting or some vomit inducing NPC throwaway from the original Xbox era.
Agony's single bright spot is it's overall artistic direction. The story had potential but fell absolutely flat and was not at all engaged in any meaningful way.
The game is absolutely unredeemable bad. The art is what saved it from a 1-star rating from me. Back in the day I used to enjoy bad games, just for laughs, I've done several playthroughs of "Neverdead" and "Ride to Hell: Retribution." Both games seem like the seconding coming of the gaming God compared to Agony. Don't let the art and concept fool you. Avoid the heap of trash unless it is under the 5$ mark and you are a modern games collector.

Barely an hour played, (most of which was spent wandering aimlessly), and I'm already putting it down. I understand the point of a stealth game is to avoid enemies, but doing so here is incredibly difficult perhaps it's my own lack of skill in the genre, but I feel gameplay mechanics are poorly conveyed to the player with enemies that are more difficult to avoid than they should be. The game has a breath holding mechanic that doesn't seem to help much, as it is difficult to tell where enemies are at until they are already on top of you. It wasn't until I looked on other sites and reviews did I find that crouching and holding your breath was a mechanic? But by this point I have no enthusiasm to return to try it. There is also a possession mechanic that is only half explained. Upon death, you are forced to float around the environment in spirit form to find a new body to possess, however upon approaching the body you are given no instruction on what to actually do to properly possess the body, apparently you're supposed to trace symbols but the game does nothing to let you know this. I'm in the second major part of the game, and unable to properly handle the game's first major enemy. And while it's entirely possible this is my own fault for not 'getting gud', I'm currently not motivated to try to do so and I feel like the reward I would get for doing so, wouldn't be worth it anyway.

It’s almost exactly what I was expected, decent gameplay, good story that branches of into different possible endings, and an awesome but repetitive puzzle aspect, the only thing I had a problem with was the graphics. It felt like instead of being a version designed around console it was just a port from the PC edition to Xbox One, occasionally my game would freak out trying to load new areas and on rare occasions not load some things at all, and the biggest graphical error I had was when I road the bird/dragon-like creature from the cliff that dropped me into the forest, during the minute-long fall my game CRASHED because the graphics were too intense for the Xbox one to handle, and when I reloaded the game I was back on said cliff with no ride-able creature; the audio also messed up. After I updated to the latest version the audio started skipping badly, the captions started getting minutes ahead of the Red Queen’s and other important-talking characters’ audio which would repeat and lag behind. It needs a few patches to smooth out the bugs, graphics, and audio glitches, but it was definitely worth the money I spent.

I was wrong. Although the graphics are closer to an early Xbox 360 game, and the screen fills with blurry lines if you move very fast, the visual content itself was neat. However, you walk at a snail’s pace, and although you are able to run, there is a stamina meter that puts an end to that after 1-2 seconds. There’s some generic puzzles. Creatures one-hit kill you, and it is almost impossible to evade them. Deaths feel cheap. Finding people to possess so you aren’t sent back to a previous check point is rough. The voice acting ranges from passable to silly. There are tons of glitches. I’m going to play through and beat this since I paid for it, and it seems like it will be more annoying than hard to do so, but the game is just joyless and tedious. I normally wouldn’t post a review without having finished, but I’ve played plenty and seen more than enough to know it isn’t redeemable. I’d encourage everyone to stay away, or wait until you find it for $5. I had high hopes and had been following since it was first announced on Kickstarter. A disappointment in every way.

So far the audio is in and out. But can be fixed in an update, doesn't bother me too much. The gameplay once you get used to the style, it's not too bad and got it at 34bucks which isn't bad. So game I would rate with other price ranges games. The creators also did drop down the mature parts like not as much Gore so more people can buy. Just waiting for them to patch and add more to it. 10gb game and only 2gb on disk. Colors and other things can be fixed with hdr and changing color a little

My second day playing this, it's a lil buggy the sound is kinda off!! Its dark in some places of the game, you dont know if it's tunnel or just walking on a closed wall!! My second day playing trying to finish the game, I'll write another review soon when I finish
P.S - the game has a 8.3 g.b update I assume it's the patch to fix the bugs an sounds other ect, of the game,
