The media could not be loaded.

This is apparently not uncommon for these to be either made incorectly, mislabeled or just blatently counterfited but this programmer has a very real chance of burning out your bios chip because it provides +5v on all the relevant pins instead of 3.3v. This also means the 1.8v adapter won't work (although I suspect it in itself is fine) because it can't step 5 down to 1.8v. Not a great experience.

Surprisingly worked fine in Linux. Apparently the windows software is completely full of malware, so don't bother. The Ubuntu command line let me pull the bios off a 1.8V chip in a dead tablet. Now I just need to find the actual bios to flash!! The clip, as I said, is garbage. It can't really grip the chip well. Just pops off, despite a half hour of trying. It barely worked, but I got it working once, and that's all I needed this time. But definitely buy a different clip, this one was too cheap. As for this device providing 5V, 3.3V, or 1.8V, it's going to be up to the user to stack the right level shifters, set the jumpers, and measure the voltage before they burn their own stuff out from their own carelessness. Unless you're the type of person that just bites into a slice of pizza the moment it comes out of the oven. If you burn your mouth it serves you right.

This little jewel saved my ass on a B450 board that did not have the correct bios loaded for my 5600x cpu. I was able to flash a bin file I extracted from an asus capsule, and to my delight the board posted. AMD was not able to send me the "bootkit" cpu they have touted as being available in these situations. Though this was due to me receiving a product that was different that what i had ordered. Also my local computer stores quoted me over $100 to flash a bios onto this board with one of the bench cpu's they had laying around. For the money, if you know how to properly connect this device and flash the correct data to your chip, this is hands down the best way to resolve the bios quagmire many a pc builder is facing. Particularly when motherboard manufacturers are touting compatibility and are unable to provide support on boards they created that do not have the USB flashback feature. All in all this device will no doubt come in handy in my many other flashrom exploits.

If you purchase this programmer you need to do a voltage mod on it. Out of the box is putting 5v DC on the data lines of the bios chip. It should be more like 3.3v . There are instructions on line on how to do that mod. So far I used this bios programmer once. In my case the PCB clip attachment did not work I had to remove the bios chip from the board.

Complete trash operates at 5Volts which will kill your bios chip. I performed the solder fix on youtube to make it write at 3.3 volts, but the device died after working properly for about 15 minutes
