In this second book of the Vancouver Blues Suspense series, Maggie Malone is out for dinner at an Italian Trattoria when a man sitting behind her is murdered. He turns out to be Kyler, her friend, Mei Chang’s lover, also known as the Naked Alderman for regularly participating in Vancouver’s annual Naked Bike Ride. Inspector Peterson with his gravelly voice grills Maggie to dig out every detail she can recall of the evening. Her controlling boyfriend, Logan is no help. He’s more worried about keeping the Black Cat pub afloat financially and is jealous of the other man Maggie has feelings for, Hunter. With his part Haida heritage and Irish blue eyes he draws her with his raw magnetism and killer smile but even he can’t protect her when more murders begin to happen. Their sensuous encounters turn up the heat but Maggie has to find the killer before he strikes again. With a fascinating cast of characters and the rich setting of Vancouver’s waterfront and Gastown district this story is simply a great read.
This time, Maggy, a blues singer at the Black Cat Blues Bar, witnesses the murder of a famous politician, that will take her for a roller caster ride of emotions! In the first story, we met the two men she loves dearly, Logan and Hunter, for different reasons. Her relationship with Logan is complicated, and with Hunter it's a touch and go attachment. Her heart is still torn between the two men, specially when one of them, with a virile chemistry, becomes a devil in disguise. Which one will she choose? What a dilemma!
When tragedy strikes her, personally, Maggy, needs protection. Will her friends be able to protect her, because Maggy, is stubborn, and really does what she wants.
Meanwhile, a murderer is still on the prowl and looking for his next victim! Will he target Maggy? Just follow her wild adventure, you won't be disappointed!
Jo-Ann Carson has become my favorite writer of mystery-suspense, her stories are thrilling, fast moving, filled with romance, blended with funny and sad moments. She nicely intertwined her charming characters, Maggy, Logan, Hunter, Mei, Joe and even inspector Peterson, into a captivating thriller. Beware, you won't be able to put it down!
