I am sure some will think it's silly but I have always believed in fairies. This book just takes that belief and makes it real. I love the story line. I love that another character gets a chance to shine even though this is a sequel and I love that it was done with such style. This is a very good read, couldn't put it down!

The Shayna, Jodi and Steven are back for a new adventure in Air. Shayna hasn't figure out how she feels about Jensen but he agreed to date her and join her friends. They catch one of their classmates Jeremy McCormick being tormented by his brother, and when he runs away upset they hear the sound of thousands of tiny wings. Which causes them to suspect that Jeremy might have gotten into something to over his head. When Shayna confronts him he tosses her over a balcony in anger and reveals his connection to fairies. Shayna is confronted by a the fairy princess who warns her about something coming.

The police arrest Jeremy after the attack on Shayna, and the trio sweet talks the police into letting Shayna. She speaks to him through a phone, learning what's really going on but Jeremy is a suspicious guy who starts to question her reasoning for wanting to befriend him and goes into a rage destroying the phone and having to be sedated. Jeremy escapes from the police station and starts to cause havoc on the city he attacks his brother, after being tortured in the past by them. The trio needs to protect their friends as well as Jeremy's father because he's angry and gotten himself into a mess.

I enjoyed Air as much as I did Earth I was really happy to see that Shayna has taken the chance to get to know Jensen and that they are giving dating a chance. I was hoping for a little more about Jodi since she is after all the air elemental but I wasn't disappointed by the story. Like the first it sucks your attention in till you hit the last page leaving you wanting more. Which is exactly what I look for in a book if it can't hold my attention while I noise going on in the background and my mind racing a mile a minute then odds are I won't be able to finish it.

Air is the second book in the Elemental series. The story revolves around a teenage witch name Shayna. She is actually an "Elemental" a witch that derives her powers from one of the four main elements: Air, Earth, Fire, Water. Shayna is the earth elemental, or earth mother.

Granger takes a different direction in this book. Instead of dealing with people who may be considered "bad witches" who are, summoning things, they should not, Shayna and friends have to deal with a magical creature that took it upon itself to enter our world and manipulate an unsuspecting boy. Jeremy is a troubled youth at school that Shay can sense has magic. She also hears the presence of the creature and rushes to Jeremy's aid.
Along the way, Shay has an encounter with the Fae. As it turns out Shay and her friend Jodi have been seeing fairies their whole life. The fairies end up guiding Shayna through her latest ordeal.

This story is a strong follow up to the first novel. It keeps the feel and look of all the characters while introducing different elements. The addition of the fairies is a good one in my opinion. It makes shays world seem all that more magical and opens up different possibilities for further down the series.
The only thing that I found disappointing was that despite the title, the real focus of the story was still on Shayna. There is nothing wrong with her as a character, but I would have liked a little bit more focus on her friend Jodi. Jodi is the air elemental of Shayna's coven. Jodi apparently comes into more power at the end but it is hard to see. I would have like to have seen more of what Jodi could do and see how her powers differ from Shayna's.

I would recommend this book as a continuation of the series and I recommend the series for people who like YA books but would like to see a little less emphasis on the romance aspect and more battling the forces of evil.

After a run-in with a demon last year, Shayna and her two best friends are excited to get ready for a relaxing rest of the year. Shayna's main goal is to learn to control her powers over the element of earth. Of course, things are never that easy. Shayna, Jodi, and Steven see someone they know get humiliated by him own brother in front of an open mic crowd. Things get very strange after that though as they discover that this boy has a group of fairy-like creatures working for him. These "fairies" are unlike any Shayna has ever seen though. Soon Shayna herself is in trouble, and the boy will stop at nothing to get back not only at those he has been hurt by but Shayna's loved ones as well. Shayna, Jodi, and Steven will have to pull out some impressive magic to get out of this.

I was excited to read this book after having read the first book of the series, and I was not disappointed. Air continued the adventures of Shayna and her friends in a fun way. I loved that the plot was so different though from the first book. Instead of dark demons we have evil fairies. No really, it was awesome. There is a lot of fairy-lore in the book, which I really enjoyed. Jodi and Steven continued to be some of the best sidekicks and friends a girl could ask for. If there was anything that bothered me, it was Shayna (especially as she dealt with Jensen). I just felt like she was really focused on herself and didn't give Jensen a chance to adjust to what was going on. That was really just a tiny thing though.

While this book is the second in the series, it certainly stands on its own very well. I found the plot to be very interesting. There were even a few surprises. All the characters were give a chance to grow in both personality and in their powers.
