We purchased 3 of these as small opening gifts for Christmas. I have read 3 reviews that gave this one star. I disagree as we tested them out yesterday and had quite a good time with these. These were purchased for 30 year olds. We crashed them and have not had the problems other people have had. We also tested out a Land Speeder (for 5 year old) and Speeder Bike (for 6 year old) and had a blast with those also.

The reviews being given are nearly the same as the reviews a few years ago when people were buying the helicopters. We had mixed results when we gave those out a few years ago. Some people can fly things and some cannot. Flying toys are more difficult to use than motorized items for the ground.

Update...I am hoping that the MOV file updates into this review. Two of the kids picked up their toy pre-Christmas and this video will show that the Millenium Falcon works just fine. They took a time out from wrapping gifts and decorating the house to play with it.

I do NOT recommend this product. I bought it for my husband (he's 30), it's about the size of a dessert plate, and doesn't do much. He had a VERY hard time controlling it. Pretty much it goes up and you just keep trying to stabilize it. It doesn't really move in any direction except up. When my husband finally got the hang of it, it would short out and crash. I bought it at Kmart and returned it the day after opening it

I bought it because it was the Millenium Falcon. It's a novelty. It basically goes up and down and flops around side-to-side. The single rotor on the interior means it is not versatile. But if you're a Star Wars fan and like R/C helicopters, then that's who this is for. A beginner might like it for the very first R/C helicopter because the limited mobility makes it a cinch to fly.

It took me a few tries to understand how to control it ( found that it turns better if you continuously tap the R/L control stick than just hold it ) . You also need to keep the controller aimed at the Falcon or it will lose power and fall. I think this is why some people say the they can't control it and it loses power. Now I can fly it within the small space of my living room. Outdoors it is much easier, of course. Many said it broke after a short time. Mine has hit the walls, furniture, attacked by cat and not a scratch. The only problem I have is that it doesn't turn right as easy as it turns left and cannot find a way to correct it.

Got this as a gift from my sister. It was, on the surface, a great pick. But I took one glance at it and strongly suspected it would be almost impossible to control. Turns out (in my experience, anyway) I was right.

The problem is that, unlike most helicopters, there's no rudder or tail rotor. You don't even have the distribution of a quadcopter. All you've got are two central rotors (one on top, one below). They spin in opposite directions, so making one go faster than the other will rotate the craft. This can be fine-tuned (supposedly) with a small knob at the bottom of the controller. But there really isn't anything to provide any other control or stability. Since the axle is fixed (i.e. it doesn't tilt), there isn't even a way to control forward speed (let alone hover or move backwards).

I cannot get mine to take off vertically, hover in place, or go the direction I want. It's not that I don't know what I'm doing. I've used remote control planes, helicopters, and even a dragonfly with reasonable success. The controls on this are quite simple: The left stick (which only moves up and down) controls lift, while the right stick (which only moves left and right) ostensibly controls direction (rotating the craft left or right as it flies forward).

In theory, then, it should take off while flying forward. Lift and forward thrust are inextricably linked, so it can't hover. The higher it goes, the faster it moves. The other stick rotates it.

In practice (at least with the one I have), what actually happens is that, no matter how gently I work the controls, it takes off, and, even without my touching the other stick, it tilts in a random direction and flies drunkenly off until it crashes into something. The left-right stick has little to no effect.

My girlfriend bought me this for christmas. I would have loved the Quad version, but we agreed on a $50 limit on eachother since we are on a shoestring budget after getting a place together recently. I absolutely love it! It is hard to control, lets get that out of the way right now. It is also incredibly durable, made from foam with a top plastic coat, and plastic supports and rotors. I had Zero issues with it crashing due to loss of signal. This is the ultra-lite version of the falcon, so I would not attempt to fly it outside. you will get serious control issues in the wind. think empty plastic bag in the wind. It is great for indoor wide open areas, like Gymnasiums. I fly it in my living room and consider it a challenge to navigate through my clutter. Its my personal goal to get from the couch to the kitchen in under 12 parsecs. :) One bad flaw of this, which puts people off... you cannot take off from a flat surface. The Gyro balancing only works in air, and I mean a lot of air. so the floor beneath makes it heavy towards the cockpit modual and it spins out. so start it up while holding it chest height by the front fins. push the up until it start to pull up, let it go, and get ready to deal with the rather slow yet awesome looking turns to keep it from smacking into a wall. After a full day of flying, laughing, crashing, laughing some more, charging, and rinse-repeat, mine is not broken. :P and I am the Master Crasher. lol! so if you are quick on the controls, this is awesome. I do plan on getting the ultimate in the future, but until then I am happy with my own private Kessel run. :)
