Iron stains? AFWFilters it! A pressurized pocket of air at the top of the tank super-oxidizes contaminants which are then passed through a high grade manganese dioxide media to oxidize any remaining contaminants and remove them. Vortech tank improves backwash flow, improving performance and increasing media life. Over 35 years of experience ensures every AFWFilters system provides the results it was designed for, and high quality components mean less maintenance, so you can enjoy YOUR water.

High Grade Media for High Contaminant Levels
Starting with a high grade manganese dioxide media (commonly called Mang-Ox or Filox) this system provides top of the line removal of iron, hydrogen sulfide (rotten egg odor) and manganese. By adding air injection on top of it, the capabilities of the media alone are nearly doubled, providing removal of iron up to 27 ppm, hydrogen sulfide up to 17 ppm, and manganese up to 11 ppm. These are the highest removal capacities you can get without using chemicals!

Now with Vortech tank for better backwashing and higher flows, the ideal system to remove highest levels of iron and sulfur. No chemicals, simple to use, rated best iron filter 8 years in a row. Iron is a common problem in homes today. It causes red staining on fixtures. High flow unit for larger homes, higher water use, 12x52 tank Sulfur is easily detected by the presence of a rotten egg odor, and is sometimes associated with yellow staining. Manganese is most often seen as a black slimy substance that builds in standing water, and may impart a metallic taste to the water. All of these problems can be eliminated with our Air Injection System. Using the principle of oxidation, the system forces the contaminates into contact with oxygen. By utilizing a patented piston, our Air Injection system is able to put the whole oxidation process inside one tank, keeping maintenance costs and down time to a minimum. This is done by creating a bubble of pressurized air at the top of the tank (done during the backwash cycle). The air in the tank then oxidized the contaminates, with the high capacity Filox brand media continues to oxidize and trap, then backwashes off to clean and start over. Avoid counterfeit units, make sure you get a 12" diameter Vortech tank.

First of all I need to point out my delay in posting a comment. I wanted to ensure the item worked as well a month after install as it did within two hours of install. Yes... Within two hours of installation this thing... This amazing Air Injection Removal Oxidizing Water Filter has resolved the nasty, foul smelling, iron saturated, well water I've suffered with for years.
I took it upon myself to add two stainless steel flex hoses for the intake and output lines purely for my convenience in the future. I assumed the worst case scenario and figured I would have to make changes or tweak things to work properly. After panicking and doubting myself for a couple of days, I started what I thought was going to be the toughest DIY project ever. The install was simple. And I do mean simple. I work in the health care field and my DIY skills are not monumental on ANY level. I can perform basic "how to" kind of things. The instructions were fabulously clear and easy to follow. The website was useful. After I was done, I kept thinking, there's no way it was that easy.
I turned the valve, waited for any leaks, and watched my water turn from rust orange and smelling of rotten eggs, to clear, no smell having, water of the likes I haven't seen from any well water in any home within miles of me.
I'm impressed. Blown away actually. The value of this is beyond what I could have hoped for. I've had other iron filter that cost four times as much and do NOTHING compared to this one. They required all kinds of chemicals, me lugging them around, for what???? The same gross water.
I am enamored with it.
If anything changes with it, I'l gladly change my review... But for now... It's awesome. It does EXACTLY what it says it'll do. I have shared with everyone I know about it and showed some of my friends the install. If I could give 20 stars... I would happily do so.
The only snag I ran into, because this was my FIRST ever filter install, was that I didn't put the distributor rod all the way in early and/or hold it down enough as I started filling the tank with resin. My recommendation to first-timers would be to remove the gravel that ships in the tank, put the rod in, and firmly hold it to the bottom of the tank as you pour the items (gravel, then resin) in. This is what I called about, after I realized the rod wasn't in all the way and the tank was loaded with about 150 lb of resin. They gave me some tips for how to correct it, and it was simple enough to resolve.
Amazing customer service, and we have crystal clear, odorless water throughout the house now!!!
The only thing that I wish I had done is not using reinforced hoses to connect to the controller. If I ever take the system down I will definitely use the hoses instead of trying to connect directly to the PVC plumping lines that I have. I suppose that PEX tubing would have been an acceptable alternative but was not an option for me.
I will update this review once I get the mineral analysis back and have had the system a little longer. Hopefully I will be able to give this system an unqualified 5-star rating at that time.
