Types of Air King Space Heaters
Ceramic Heaters use a fan to blow air that has been warmed by a ceramic heating element. These types of heaters are appropriate for quickly heating up a small- to medium-sized room. The ceramic heating element produces heat by passing current through a self regulated heating element. The element adjusts itself to the surface temperature, regulating it to produce a constant heat. As air is passed through the element, it will adjust to maintain the temperature.
Die-Cast Heaters use convection that draws cold air from the floor. The air is warmed by heating coils and emitted from the top of the heater. A convection heater is appropriate for quickly heating up a small- to medium-sized room.
How Powerful a Heater Do You Need?
Heaters are rated by BTU, which stands for British Thermal Unit (the amount of heat needed to heat one pound of water by 1 degree F). To find out how many BTU you need:
- Calculate the volume of the space to be heated by multiplying square footage by height.
- Multiply that number by 4 if your insulation is poor, 3 if it's average, or 2 if it's good.
The resulting number is a ballpark figure for how many BTU you'll need.

I have this unit in a small greenhouse (16 foot X 8 foot) and I put an air motion detector at the other end of the area. It starts moving only seconds after the unit is operating.
There is only one minor downside -- the thermostat is not as sensitive as I would like to see it. If you don't mind the unit operating at times when it really isn't needed (i.e., when the area really doesn't need to be heated), then there is no issue. I want only a 3 degree change. I will be getting an external plug-in thermostat to regulate this unit. I have tested it and the unit responds OK to having it's power interrupted. It switches on without issue.
I have read some negative reviews on this unit and all I can say is, anyone can get a lemon--- if this is the case, Amazon is GREAT on returns and replacements. Just exchange the unit.
For myself, I think this unit has power to spare where it counts. Remember, 1500 Watts is 1500 Watts no matter what unit is heating. It is the blower (fan) that determines how far and how fast the heat will get around.

The service was excellent. The heater while nice does not blow out as much hot air as i would like or expect. I suppose i need to get into the $300-$500 range for that.Published 4 months ago by Mike H

Does a good job of providing heat but not a great amount of blowing power or heat coverage. All depends upon size of room you are trying to heat.Published on March 14, 2014 by Jimmy Whorton
