I grew up in the country and this fan compares to the barn fans that were installed in the milking areas of my farmer buddies. It's a little loud to be honest so expect that but also know what you're buying. This fan is heavy, built very well, and metal everything so not meant to be carried up and down stairs. We'll use it in the winter as well to even out the "hot spots" in our house and keep things a little more consistent around the house.
I debated going with two of the 20 inch versions but thought I could just re-purpose some of my already great fans and try the "big daddy" out. Glad I did! I like the performance of this due to the time it can take to cool down your house.
CFM is exceptional - isn't that what you're looking for when you buy a fan of this size?Read more ›

Thanks to google, I found Air King, basically a Lasko company and I ordered this fan from Amazon.
It arrived in fine shape and upon opening the box, I was impressed at the quality and fine American craftsmanship. The motor is a totally enclosed PSC ball bearing unit. It is quiet, ie no bearing noise but very powerful for its size. The blades are statically balanced all metal that move air quite smartly. Electrical consumption is a meager 77 watts on high.
The 9 foot cord is a 3 prong ground type connected to the motor which has 3 speeds. Each speed is distinctive with low being quiet enough for a nice breeze w/o drowning out the tube. The switch is on the back of the fan and easy to turn and see.
The head assembly will pivot 90 degrees and this fan can be configured as a hassock fan picking up cool air from the floor and moving it throughout the room.
The grill can be removed by taking out 8 screws with a Phillips screwdriver. My only complaint is the air king logo plate is rather large and can block some air flow but the blade design offsets this.
If you want something that will last, this is the fan to have. It certainly is not cheap. But good quality never is. For those old enough to remember when Patton and Lakewood (RIP) made good fans, this one will more than fill the bill.
I'm impressed and adding another star to these fans and changing the title of my review from "good enough" to "Work horse". We replaced the one fan that broke apart 2 years ago, and the replacement was turned on and is still going. The original two are still going strong, but have developed a bit more of a shake to them, but they are also at 30,000+ hour, so total 1 failure in over 90,000 hours.
I have also since bought one for my house that is use periodically. I should pb put it in my will.

This fan vibrates like crazy on High and Medium settings. Clearly the blade is out of balance and should have been properly tested before leaving the factory. Read morePublished 3 days ago by Shaun Perry
This fan moves a lot of air, but is not very user friendly. In order to keep the fan in place you have to tighten bolts OFTEN (every day). Read morePublished 5 days ago by M Barbara Ambrose
The plastic motor cover that the switch is mounted to is very fragile for what is supposed to be an "industrial fan". Read morePublished 6 days ago by Amazon Customer
So much better than other fans I've used. Quiet and extremely well made.Published 8 days ago by Alex
It moves all over the place. To loud. The 18 in is not even as loud and moves more air. I hated the 20 in so much i sent it back.Published 12 days ago by Grady York
Very nice fan. Quiet and powerful. Took off one star because whoever was on sticker duty for the front logo and rear electrical sticker put them on crooked. It's annoying.Published 15 days ago by Webic
