GCs are a bit of a hassle, but they do work

I admit these GCs are quite a hassle to apply to your account. Airbnb seems to have failed to take into account that people are spending large amounts of money on their site and with a GC limit of $100 on Amazon and $250 directly from their site, will be purchasing numerous GCs.

I purchased 8 emailed GCs from Amazon, 7 for $100 and 1 for $50. I added the first two without a problem by signing into Airbnb > going to the icon of my face in the top right corner > account settings > payment methods - and adding the GC code under "Airbnb Giftcard".

After the first two, I ran into a random error (sorry I don't remember exactly what the error was). This error was remedied by clearing my cookies or using an incognito window. I added 3 more GCs using this method before I ran into ANOTHER error ("Unable to perform action. Please try again later or contact support if you need immediate assistance.").

At this point, I contacted support (a hassle in itself, but hopefully with this info you won't have to attempt it), and support replied that only FIVE cards could be added in a day. I waited 24 hours and was able to add the last 3 cards without a problem.

So again, it's annoying and it's a hassle, but I was able to add all 8 GCs to my Airbnb account. Another thing to note is GCs can only be used on stays of 27 days or fewer. I hope this helps!

Note: Airbnb gift cards don't work on long term stays, which is kinda ridiculous.
It's like if McDonald's decided that their gift cards don't work on Big Mac's cause our margin is razor thin on that product.
Don't be like me and think you can buy up a whole bunch and combine for a long term rental.
Luckily I caught myself after buying only one card, and I travel enough to be able to use that up pretty fast.
Only get these if you or the person your giving to, is planning one or more stays shorter than 28days.

Heads up. You CAN NOT USE THESE FOR THE SECOND PAYMENT OF YOUR AIRBNB.
I purchased two gift cards over the course of a month in order to lessen the large amount of the second payment of the Airbnb I had reserved, but found out that for no good reason you are NOT allowed to apply gift cards for the second payment. You can use them for the first payment or if you are paying in full when you book your Airbnb but not the second payment. I find this nonsensical and I doubt I will use Airbnb in the future.

I have just purchased one gift card, and although there have been some comments posted already, I did give a try. It is confirmed, this gift card only work if you have a US-based method of payment. This is how it looks in Airbnb:

Right now, gift cards can only be redeemed if you have a US-based payment method on your account. You can add a US credit card in Account Settings.

If you do have a US based method, don't worry; it might work for you. The email arrived shortly and the card was opened with all the info.

100% terrible experience! It's difficult to even find where to enter a gift card into your account, let alone use it. Once you finally figure out where to input the card information, AirBnB will tell you the card cannot be used on "extended stays" at AirBnB properties... It'd be like Southwest saying you can't use one of their gift cards on a flight that's more than 1 hour long. Simply ridiculous! Now I'm stuck with a gift card I can't use...

Reading other reviews there seems to be some edge cases where these don't work for everyone, however these are not a fault of this amazon order, more a fault of user's not meeting requirements for AirBnb gift card usage (out of country, long stays, etc).

For most people, including myself, it was easy. I was just getting the GC for my own use, but you can send it to others too of course. I placed order, within 5 minutes (about 30 seconds in my case) receive email with e-gift card. Clicked on "get card", and it gave me the card# and pin, and the link to go to airbnb to apply. I did this, copied/pasted the info to airbnb, and it applied the card to my account there. I did this twice so far today, and it worked fine both times, took under 5 min total.

When I book my Airbnb trip this month or next, the balance will be there. No issues.

I purchased this item as i had received an amazon GC and was going on a trip soon so it seemed like a great use of a GC. Unfortunately, this is only valid for use if you have an American credit card attached to your AirBnB account which was not listed anywhere in the product description. I could have dug a little deeper and reached out to customer service to get an answer before purchase to be perfectly fair, however i wish that it would have been disclosed in the description before spending money on the GC.
