Aitan’s Revenge is the story of Lex’s brother Aitan and what happened after he and Astrea left Asphodel. Originally I thought of Aitan as arrogant and cold but now I see that he really does care for his family and for his people. Aitan is ambitious but he has seen how ruthless First Leader Keirna has been to their people. We discover that Aitan tries to balance his career dreams and the welfare of those he care about by not following Keirna’s tactics. But Keirna makes some shocking moves that threaten everyone’s safety just so she can remain in control. I absolutely hate Keirna! And Aitan and his family have been brutally victimized by Keirna so I can’t wait to see what happens when Astrea and Lex return to Asphodel. Aitan’s Revenge had romance, action and suspense that made it so hard to put down. I hated for this to end and I can’t wait for the next book!
The Starbright series is a dystopian mixed with fantasy and science fiction. But this series stands out due to its creative and unique story and the flawless writing of author Hilary Thompson. I highly recommend this series to readers looking for something new and exciting to read. You won’t be disappointed!
I was pleasantly surprised by Aitan’s story as well. He really has more to him than it seems in the other books, and I enjoyed getting to know more of his inner workings, not to mention what the heck was going on in Asphodel the whole time after Astrea and Lexan departed. The most surprising thing ended up being (bleep bloop spoiler would be here.) But I will let you find out for yourself!
Certainly a welcome addition to the world of the Starbright children, I found Aitan’s Revenge to be a bit more of a bridge than Lexan’s Pledge was, feeling more like it’s own tale and less like a small snippet. It did not, however, quench my burning desire to read the third full length novel Destiny Risen which is due out later this year I believe. Overall another short tale to add to the mystery and excitement of Thompson’s fantasy world, not to be missed! 4.5 stars

"Aitan's Revenge" is definitely a must-read "Starbright" novella that should be read after "Balance Broken", which is the second book in the series.
The story is told by Aitan, who is Lexan's bigger brother and one of First Leader Keirna's followers. Aitan has caught my attention since the first book ("Justice Buried") and I wanted to find out more about him. And that is one of the reasons I believe this book is more than welcome. In the previous novels, Aitan is surrounded by mystery and suspicions and acts in a confusing manner, but in this book we get to know him really well - we get to know his thoughts on many subjects, his true feelings, his ambitions and the sacrifices he has made and is willing to make in order to fulfill these ambitions. He is impulsive, but also a very good actor and he craves for power, but also for love. Before, he may seemed cold-hearted, capable of ruthless things without blinking an eye; however, now I know he is not keen on taking lives and is capable of showing mercy and even affection.
Also, I loved "Aitan's Revenge" because there are so many things going on. Unlike "Stian's Mistake" and "Lexan's Pledge" (which aren't full of news), this novella is filled with action, big events, surprises - some good, some bad - which make this book a thrilling, wonderful read. People actually die in this novel and it's not just some random character. Important people die and I am wondering how the other characters are going to react when they will find out about the deaths.
Without further ado, "Aitan's Revenge" is amazing from all points of view. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I can't wait for the last book in this great series that is the "Starbright" series.
