This is not Jessica Angelique's first book. She is the author of the successful The Road to Me: I know now why the caged bird sang detailing her life in foster care, her battle with cancer and the hardships of being a homeless single mother to two small children.
Just released exclusively on Amazon , Alas Peace Be Still is the heart - and often gut wrenching - account of Angelique's reaction to seeing Oprah Winfrey interview critically acclaimed producer Tyler Perry.

The result is a moving and inspirational account of the author's state of life, the realisation of the depth of her faith, her shift from balancing on the brink of suicide to embracing her life - even the parts she is not happy with.

Alas, Peace Be Still is not easy to read. At times Jessica Angelique's despair and desperation are almost overwhelming - but she writes with such generosity and such truth you can not turn away. It is indeed a rare privilege to be able to share someone's journey as they rediscover the truth of themselves.
Toward the end she writes:
"When you spend time with yourself, you get to know yourself and that's what's happening to me. I'm finally getting to know my true self. It also means that you learn how to love the person that you are."

Jessica Angelique's courage and honesty are a rare gem indeed.

Jessica poured her heart into writing this book. As the author, it must have been hard to write about some of the truths revealed in this book. As the reader, as well as a former foster parent, it is hard to imagine that anyone could or would do things to children like what Jessica endured as a child. I would recommend this book to everyone, and I look forward to reading all of Jessicas other books. Keep your head up Jessica and continue to meet yourself. God Bless You!!

Jessica Angelique was surrendered in infancy by parents she's never known to a foster care system that would prove to be a living hell. From an early age, the unfortunate ward of the state became the victim of unspeakable violations as she found herself being shuttled from home to home and from molester to molester, each worse than the last. At 5, her legs were permanently disfigured by a foster father who put out his cigars on her legs as punishment for forgetting to make her bed. That remains Jessica's earliest childhood memory. At 7, she was raped by another "daddy" who forced her to watch pornography while sitting on his naked lap. And so forth...

Jessica never entered therapy to give herself a chance to heal her deep wounds. That's why her world came crashing down on October 27th, 2010 while watching Tyler Perry share his own life story.

The net result is Alas, Peace Be Still, a heartbreaking memoir by a survivor with every right to be bitter. Miraculously, this once-anguished soul has ostensibly put the nightmare behind her and arrived at a peaceful place of gratitude and serenity.
