Review
Ann has not written a gardening guide, but a complete encyclopedia on gardening. -- Virgil Severns, Agricultural Extension Agent, ret.
Exhaustive, plain-spoken and generously illustrated, it will soon become THE definitive and indispensable reference guide... -- Linden Staciokas, Garden author and columnist for the Fairbanks Daily News-Mine
About the Author
Anns main purpose was not to write what she knew, but to present what the experts knew, so this book is the result of research and interviews with expert growers, Alaska Cooperative Extension Agents, and the staff of what is now known as the Georgeson Botanical Garden at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Ann is an expert researcher. The information in Alaska Gardening Guide is the culmination of years of research and practical Alaska growing experience by many, many people. Anns real love is passing on her hard-won knowledge to new generations of gardeners.

I read this pretty much cover to cover and it's an extremely authoritative growing guide for anyone who is up against a cold climate, short growing season and particularly those that might see issues with permafrost. I can say that the knowledge contained within is well worth the purchase price and for us, it contributed to a bountiful 2016 garden and should continue to help us in the future. We implemented many of the techniques discussed and short of experimentation driven by our own self interests in growing, this book truly helped us shorten the learning curve of growing in such a different climate from what we are used to. I would say that there is much room for growth outside of what's discussed in the book, through experimentation and knowledge of genetics, but this book will really help to provide you techniques that can save you from many utter failures.
There's no such thing as a small cabbage when grown under the midnight sun! We look forward to many more years of growing here and will keep this as a reference for the future!
BUT the books got creases and tabs? I mean thanks for tabbing it but is it typically sold this way? Seems used to me. Slightly Disappointed but hope that it’s as useful as intended.
