Alaskan Healing: An Alaskan Healing Novel (Volume 1) Paperback – September 27, 2012
About the Author
Lana Voynich has been writing stories for as long as she can remember. A love of books was instilled early by her parents and when she ran out of reading material in her childhood home, she started making up her own stories. Once she even wrote a story about a frog stealing a car on the back of a tissue box while trapped in the car on a family road trip. Lana often wonders what happens to the people in her dreams when she wakes, so she writes their stories to satisfy her curiosity. When not reading or writing, Lana enjoys knitting, genealogy research, kayaking, snowmobiling and spending time with her family.

I bought Alaskan Healing because I am a huge fan of Deadliest Catch. I was hoping that I'd get a read set on a crab boat in the Bering sea that could rival the television program. I was not disappointed.
The author's depiction of life aboard a crab boat was realistic, as were the limitations her heroine was forced to contend with while working the deck.
I especially liked the way the author portrayed the close confines of such an environment, and how exposure to that setting played a role in the relationships. As those relationships developed, the author treated us to some steamy scenes that had nothing to do with boiling crab. (:> Yet those scenes were tastefully depicted.
This book is an exciting and sexy read. I highly recommend it to any fan of the television series. Romance isn't my preferred genre, but I couldn't stop reading this book. It kept me up too late last night, and it kept me occupied today until I finished it.
I think this book is ripe for a sequel.
The characters drew me in and carried me along. Their unique personalities and situations made me care what happened next.
Much of the story takes place on a crab fishing boat. The research on this is well done and easily conveyed throughout the story. At the same time, it's not overwhelming. You don't need a love of fishing or boats to love this book.
