Connie worked for many years as a radio reporter and news anchor, with a couple of brief forays into TV news along the way. Her experience as a journalist shows up in some of her novels. She also dabbled in acting in college and community theater. She uses those experiences in some of her books as well.

Her novels are fast-paced stories featuring young women facing serious challenges set against the backdrop of some thorny issues. She writes time travel, magical realism, historical fiction and climate fiction - all with a dollop of romance. Social justice is a theme of many of her books.

She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke with a degree in Journalism and Creative Writing.

Another exhilarating read in The Shade Ring trilogy, as we follow Neave Alvarez on her quest for justice -- for her world, and her family and loved ones. The setting really drove home the consequences of unchecked climate change and pollution, challenging me to think about my own habits in the day-to-day, and I loved seeing Neave develop as a character. In this story, Neave is challenged and accosted at nearly every turn, and her growth as a character is stark... and I want more. Definitely can't wait to have book three in my hands, because this story -- though satisfying -- left me eager for more.

New author Connie Lacy's even better with book 2 of The Shade Ring Trilogy. When I finished reading book 1, I didn't know there would be a book 2 and in 2017 a book 4. Book 1 left me curious about Neave and human clone Wills' future, I would like to see a chapter about being a clone and if there are any differences in regards to their human original. Can clones marry a clone, have a clone family, ect. Then bam; here comes Albedo Effect! This book answers many questions and added a huge amount of fuel to the suspenseful story. I've finished reading the book and once again, I'm left hanging about what happens next and am ready for book 3.

This book was full of action as Neave was assailed with issues from all sides. It started with a breathtaking escape from a super storm brought on by the climate change in the future. That wasn’t the only act of nature she faced, but it was the human attacks that proved more challenging. Her father continues to be a real piece of work, bullying her and the entire world. In the thrilling plot there was also a deepening of the backstory with her and Will, which I really enjoyed. I hope to learn even more about him and what it really means to be a clone. The pace was perfect as I was thrust forward to an end that even though thoroughly satisfying in its own right, left me craving the next part.

The Shade Ring continues with high levels of excitement, action, and twists comparable to the first book. Neave and Will go through challenges in their relationship as Neave's father stays one step ahead, scheming his evil plans. Trying to outmaneuver her father, while saving and protecting the ones she loves, Neave will have to make some hard decisions. The accumulating environmental problems are described beautifully as the author creates scenes that are thought-provoking, intense and page turners. The book ends with questions that make the reader look forward to the third book in the series.

The issue facing the world is how to tackle the changes and this is the cause of conflict between governments and also families. Neave's disgraced father, the former climate secretary, is still trying to influence opinion in the direction of his preferred solution but his motives are far from altruistic. Neave and her family face danger at every turn as she speaks out against her father. He is also intent on ending her relationship with the man she loves. All the ingredients for a fast paced thriller, which grips you from the start and will keep you turning the pages.I am looking forward to reading the final part.
