Purchase options and add-ons

Best known for his general theory of relativity and the famous equation linking mass and energy, E = mc², Albert Einstein had a lasting impact on the world of science, the extent of which is illuminated—along with his fascinating life and unique personality—in this lively history. In addition to learning all about Einstein’s important contributions to science, from proving the existence and size of atoms and launching the field of quantum mechanics to creating models of the universe that led to the discovery of black holes and the big bang theory, young physicists will participate in activities and thought experiments to bring his theories and ideas to life. Such activities include using dominoes to model a nuclear chain reaction, replicating the expanding universe in a microwave oven, creating blue skies and red sunsets in a soda bottle, and calculating the speed of light using a melted chocolate bar. Suggestions for further study, a time line, and sidebars on the work of other physicists of the day make this an incredibly accessible resource for inquisitive children.

This is a great book. My 10 yr old son has a school project that requires him to read a book about an important person in history, write a short report and then dress up as the person and pretend to be him while giving the presentation. My son devoured this book. He was so excited to tell me all kinds of facts about Einstein. He is also excited to give the presentation because of all the fun and interesting facts in this book. I highly recommend this for anyone. I picked up the book intending to just scan through it, but was such easy reading I ended up reading the whole thing. Very interesting!!

I got this book for kids for science week during the summer, but I read the whole this before they did. Many pictures, great stories, and some experiments to stimulate your mind. I may get a different book in the series.

Helped understand Einstein a bit better and relativity. My daughter is only 3 so I read to her from it in sections . She obviously cannot understand all of it now . In my opinion I believe exposing her to science , scientific theories, just books like this in general helps to keep her curiosity growing.

Though we are still in the process of reading this book, I would highly recommend it. I am a homeschooling mom using this with my 11,9 and 7 year old. The book is very informative and includes little experiments along the way for a hands on experience. My kids have also really enjoyed the pictures included in the book.

My middle age son has read this book twice now and has shared parts of it with me. Mr. Pohlen is able to explain a complex topic in very understandable terms. I'd recommend this for any kid interested in understanding more about Albert Einstein's Theory of Relativity.

I'm a 10 year old boy. My mom got it for me.
It gives a very good explanation of Albert's life and his equation e=mc (squared). If any person wants to be a physicist, read this book right now.
I had to reread a lot but I really recommend it.

And I'm an adult. Theories were explained well and much better than any science I learnt at school. I bought this for my son but I am glad I read it and I intend to spend more time thinking about the world instead of rushing around in it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excelente introducción para niños
Reviewed in Spain on January 24, 2016
Este libro, asi como otros de la colección, está muy bien. Explica de forma amena y sencilla los principios de la teoría de la relatividad tal y como Einstein la concivió. Eso sí, los niños necesitarán un mínimo nivel de inglés.
