"This is what happened to a few of our customers when they tried to to activate their phones by calling Tracfone customer service . Please do not listen to these reps and do the activation process online at www tracfone com
When you activate the phone online, you will be requested for an airtime PIN, simply click on the "SKIP" button to continue your activation. Follow the steps until the end of the process, then you will get 800 minutes and 365 days of service"
I followed the instructions, set it up online and was up and running in 5 minutes. Very happy with this purchase and the customer service support so far.
I purchased this for my father who is in a senior living facility. He has nothing to do and has burned thru the original minutes. It would actually be much cheaper for me to purchase a new phone for him and start over than to try and add minutes. He is not using the text or email options at all.
I won't say the sales pitch was deceptive but it definitely isn't clear. This is only a good deal if the user can make the minutes last for most of the service plan.
Also, just so you know, there will not be an activation card in the box. The activation, 800 minutes, and double minutes are included with the serial number. The first tech person said that I needed a code. I called Saved Computers and was told to ask for a supervisor. I ended up getting my number switched, all the minutes I had on the last phone, one year's additional time, PLUS 1600 extra minutes (She doubled the 800 minutes without my even asking!) It took a lot of time on hold and waiting quietly, but it was worth it in the end. Where can you get this much time for this long for this price!?!?!? Plus, in case you are new to Tracfone... any minutes you do not use within the year, carry over to the next year. We have always had Tracfone since they first began (we only use the phones for emergencies and occasional, short conversations. I cannot say enough good things about Saved Computer!! <3
If you simply call Tracfone customer service from your new phone and key in the serial number (15 digits) when prompted, the screen will return its activation response, recognizing the program (“800 Minutes and One Year of Tracfone Service + Double Minutes (Phone + 800 minutes + 1 year of Tracfone service + Double minutes”).
If you wind up talking to customer service, you’ll probably regret it. The agent to whom I spoke kept insisting that I provide a serial number for the airtime (the one on the back of the ‘prepaid minutes’ card you purchase for replacement minutes and 'scratch off,' and had no information about this program.
So I abandoned the call, dialed right back from my new phone, keyed in the registration number when prompted, and had confirmation within a minute, along with all the anticipated purchase benefits acknowledged, all with no agent involved.
If you want to transfer your current number or have some other need to speak to customer service, be prepared that the agent will have trouble assisting you, with respect to this "Big Easy Plus" program…as so many other buyers have commented.
But after the dust settled, I’m very happy with this purchase.
