The Alchemist Manifesto is both beautiful and frustrating. The music is a complex lush fusion of many different influences, alternately compelling and intriguing. But each track seems more like a sample than a complete piece. Each one starts to develop only to be stopped just as it seems to be taking form and replaced by the next. As such the album feels like a set of carpet samples for what must be gorgeous Persian carpets. Any one of those carpets would have made a nice ride, but, instead, the stack of samples just feels like a visit to an outlet store.

Psychedelic chill out groovy soul sounds form the genius behind Grupo Fantasma. I have all the albums by Adrian Quesada and his musical projects and they are all great in my opinion. Sometimes they feel like soundtrack tunes from old 70's movies and sometimes I just want to relax and have my brain messaged. This makes me wish I had headphones! Check out Brownout and echocentrics too.

Ocote Sound really impressed me with their first record, however with "The Alchemist Manifesto" I feel that they wanted to overproduce to improve the direction but without good results. Their tracks are not new and exciting as expected but short and boring, still they they are looking to have mistycal tunes spiced with a bit of chill out but they never caught me up. Frankly I feel disspointed and their effort did not resulted this time. I can only highlight one single track "El Pescador" whic was really well produced and I wish they could follow in that similar line but instead the got lost in their way. I will be looking on their next release to find out what did they lerned this time.
