Since my husband often does a keto diet and since i try to avoid sugar we decided to order some sugar-free syrup but became confused when we saw ALL of the options.. At that point I thought to order them all and just compare the sugar-free maple syrups to see which one we preferred the most. Not sure what our preferences are worth since everyone's taste & preferences can be different... but I thought I'd share our views for what it's worth😁We bought 5 sugar-free brands of maple syrup: Lakanto, ChocZero, NuNaturals, Joseph's & Livlo Syrlo. Here's what we noticed:NuNaturals seemed to have a strong maple flavor with a slightly thin consistency. I found that the container needed to be mixed around or shoke up as best as possible before serving. Had a pleasant maple syrup flavor.ChocZero had a very thick consistency. As far as flavor goes, the first thing that came to my mind upon trying it was it made me think of maybe what liquid marshmallows with a maple flavor added would taste like. But it wasn't bad tasting.Livlo Syrlo tasted like a thinner version of ChocZero but sweeter with a slight aftertaste that lingered.Joseph's was another thick consistency syrup. It had a nice sweet maple flavor.. BUT according to the back label it reads that you can only deduct half of the sugar alcohols in this brand.. so is it actually low-carb, keto?Lakanto had a super thin consistency but a nice maple syrup flavor.. not overly sweet in my opinion. If you're wondering which ones we preferred.. I liked the taste of Joseph's but my concern about the carbs made me choose Lakanto as my next favorite one overall. My husband preferred Joseph's 😁 he said he didn't notice it affecting his loosing weight while on keto.. and he just loves the flavor of it. To him it's like having regular maple syrup. So that's our thoughts for what it's worth.. not sure if it helps you any but I sure hope it does😊👍UPDATE:**After trying sugar-free syrups a few times I don't like how they make me feel.. I feel very dehydrated after using them along with some digestive issues... So I've decided to take a break from using these products with sugar alcohols since it seems to be the culprit.
I take artificial sweeteners with a grain of salt, most are "meh" or yuck. I needed something to substitute for corn syrup that was low carb for a recipe. After looking up the info, sugar free honey and sugar free maple syrup seemed like it should work. I've heard all kinds of good things about ChocZero and settled on this product. Man! Am I glad I did! First tentative taste, it taste just like my favorite Mrs. syrup brand and was actually thick, not runny like most syrups with artificial sweeteners. My new snack is keto bread toasted with this syrup on it. And yes, it worked great in my recipe.
I've wanted to try a keto friendly syrup, but the price has always deterred me from doing so. I just decided to go for it, and this syrup didn't disappoint. For being sugar-free - it's sweetened with monk fruit sweetener - there's no funky after taste and it has a thick consistency like maple syrup. The bottle is small, so I'll be using it sparingly. However, it's a great alternative to traditional maple syrup-like products that are sweetened with high fructose corn syrup.
I have been buying this product for a few years and this time it was different and definitely not better. The flavor is very artificial, I hope Choc Zero will consider getting back to the OG!!
Taste great, didn't notice an after taste. Like this brand of products, consistently produce low carb products that taste as close to traditional products as possible.
