A Very Special Version of Cat Lady!
In Cat Lady, players are cat ladies, part of an elite group of people including Marie Antoinette and Ernest Hemingway. During the game, you and your fellow cat ladies will draft cards three at a time, collecting toys, food, catnip, costumes, and of course lovable cats. But watch out! Make sure you have enough food for all of your feline friends or your hungry cats will subtract points from your score. The player with the highest total victory points wins the game!

1. So you 9 cards and lay them in a 3x3 grid.
2. Whoever goes first takes a column or row of 3 cards. These cards are then replaced from the deck.
3. Any cats go in front of you. Any food cards get traded for coloured blocks.
(you should put toys, catnip and any other cards infront of you on the table as well.)
4. Things like toys, catnip, costumes give you extra scoring at the end.
5. Lost Cat cards can be traded for 1 Stray Cat (they have special powers) or 2 points. You must trade 2 lost cat cards for one of these things.
6. The Spray Bottle can be used to move the guard cat
---The guard cat watches along whichever row or column was last taken. No one can take the row that was just taken.
--- The Spray Bottle can move the guard cat at any time during your turn, freeing up a row you might want or blocking the next person
7. Each cat needs to be fed in order to score points. There are 3 different types of food and a wild food. FEED YOUR CATS!
If you don't feed your cats, any special powers they have don't work.
Add up your scoring according to the rules (which could be written better) and whoever is the best cat lady wins.
I bought this because I love cats and want to own all cat games
I get angry/competitive when I don't have the most happy cats = (
Other cat games (I own) cat lovers will like:
Here Kitty Kitty (cat hoarding)
Kitty Paw (dexterity)
Other cat games (I own) cat lovers might like:
The Cat Game (cat pictionary)
Spite and Malice (cat solitaire for groups)
Tempurra (cat uno)
Exploding Kittens (cat "don't draw cards")
Other cat games (I own) cat lovers likely won't like:
Kittens in a Blender (not fun to blend kittens)
Catopoly (I don't own this, but no one will like it, trust me)
A full game is short, the deck seems large but when you deal 3 cards each draw it goes fast. The directions are pretty easy to follow and we learned from watching a 3 minute Youtube video on how to play. We have played a half dozen times since receiving it. Although it says that this game is for ages 14 and up my 8 year old daughter picked it up quickly and has won more games than I have.
This game is quick, fun and incredibly easy to learn.
The game itself plays nicely for two people. I have not played the game with three or four players total, but it works really well for just two. We did feel that we were restricted a bit with just three stray games for the entire game, so we created a new rule where the stray cats change every few turns. They are stray cats, so it makes sense that the stray cats come and go. This rule gave us a new level of urgency knowing that the stray cats will not hang around forever.
Overall, I definitely recommend getting the premium version. Even just the upgraded wooden tokens are really worth it in my opinion.
It is easy to teach children to play this game. Essentially, they have only thing to do: choose a column / row and take the cards. The tactical decision is whether you want to block the following player from taking the cards he/she wants.
The card illustration is cute, but I wish there were no text on the cards. The premium edition is awesome. The meeples are pretty.
