Rocked by the Bear Book 3
Link is one of the best talent scouts in the music business. Noel is his assistant; she's efficient, feisty and determined to be successful. Noel arrives in Maine to scout the band Second Sound. What she doesn't expect to find is Aleck.
Aleck has always preferred the background. He was glad to stay out of the limelight, until he came into contact with Noel. He knew she was his mate from the start. He just had to convince her.
Noel will come to discover some secrets from her past that will tear them apart or bring them closer once she deals with them.
Another wonderful addition to the Rocked by the Bear series.
I received an arc for an honest review.
Big soft-hearted bear shifter Aleck Lindquist is a talented song-writer and keyboard player, He's also the shy member of Second Sound and really doesn't want to be in the spotlight, he's happy lurking in the wings and doing his thing behind the scenes, but he's also the band's leader and when talent scout Noel Keating wants to promote them, he knows he's met his true mate and the only way to get closer to her is to go with the flow towards the big time.
Noel Keating has seen a terrific new band on YouTube and wants to turn them into rock stars. She shows the video to her boss, boyfriend Link Murphy and he agrees, but he's away on tour with a new female group and leaves it to her. She's seriously attracted to the band's leader but won't act because she's not free, but her situation changes completely the next day. Noel is sure that Link's cheating on her with the lead singer of the new girl group and seeing them splashed across the front page together, combined with an excuse laden phone call leads Noel to the only course of action open to her where she gets to keep her job. She splits up with him, but she wants to promote Second Sound so they make a deal.
Without giving spoilers it's hard to tell you about this great story. It has a lot of wonderful characters and lots of steamy bits as well a happily ever after, but although I loved Aleck and I did feel for Noel in the beginning, especially because of the situation she found herself in with Link, I'm not sure that I actually liked the somewhat shallow person she showed herself to be. The music business seems to revolve around image, and Noel was all about success, money, image and clothes in the beginning, but by the end of the book she was pulled up short by a red dress, and sudden dose of cold, hard reality when she hears Aleck's story. She stopped, took a good look at herself and didn't like what she saw. What she'd become and with Aleck's help, she was going to change.....
I love V. Vaughn's books and despite being written in the first person, not my favourite style, the story is good and once I got into it, I barely even noticed. Although this book is connected to Called by the Bear and Tempted by the Bear which are serials, this is a complete stand alone story with a happily ever after, no cliff-hangers and I absolutely loved it. Mating Season is over and Mating Fever has struck.
