Aleister & Adolf Hardcover – November 15, 2016
"Rushkoff is a cultural treasure and an eccentric author of big, strange ideas, never less than fascinating and always entertaining." -Warren Ellis, author of Gun Machine, Red, Trees, and Transmetropolitan
"Douglas has been one of my personal heroes, and I've been a most attentive reader of anything he cares to put between covers, knowing that his combination of a cold eye and a warm heart is guaranteed to astonish and embolden my own thinking about what's possible in the world--about what's possible to enact in the space between one human being and another. He occupies the ground of our most immediate perplexities, and his reports of what he finds are breaking news." -Jonathan Lethem, author of The Best American Comics and The Fortress of Solitude

Named one of the “world’s ten most influential intellectuals” by MIT, Douglas Rushkoff is an author and documentarian who studies human autonomy in a digital age. His twenty books include the upcoming Survival of the Richest: Escape Fantasies of the Tech Billionaires, Team Human, based on his podcast, as well as the bestsellers Present Shock, Throwing Rocks and the Google Bus, Program or Be Programmed, Life Inc, and Media Virus. His book Coercion won the Marshall McLuhan Award, and the Neil Postman Award for Career Achievement in Public Intellectual Activity.
He coined such concepts as “viral media,” “screenagers,” and “social currency,” and has been a leading voice for applying digital media toward social and economic justice. He a research fellow of the Institute for the Future, and Professor of Media Theory and Digital Economics at CUNY/Queens. He is a columnist for Medium, and his novels and comics, Ecstasy Club, A.D.D, and Aleister & Adolf, are all being developed for the screen.

Mike began his comics
career at the age of
14, breaking in as an
inker. Growing up in
a small town, Mike
found tutelage under
Neil Vokes and Adam
Hughes, while corresponding
with Nexus
creators Steve Rude
and Mike Baron. After
years working in indie press, his first big
break was as an inker on Daredevil, and
shortly after as penciler/inker on DC’s version
of Judge Dredd, then Foot Soldiers at
Dark Horse Comics. During the mid-’90s
comics crash, Mike moved back into indie
comics, starting on his path of creatorowned
comics with Ship of Fools, co-created
with Bryan J.L. Glass. While drawing
Ship of Fools, Mike continued with other
paying work, such as inking Neil Vokes on
Ninjack and drawing Bulletproof Monk, which
later became a John Woo film. Business
was slow when Mike experimented with a
new, simpler style of drawing, and began
developing several projects, including The
Mice Templar, Hammer of the Gods, Quixote,
and what would become Powers with Brian
Michael Bendis, whom Mike had met several
years earlier.
Powers has been nominated for a Harvey
Award and won an Eisner Award for best
new series. With Powers ongoing, Mike has
since tackled several other projects, including
Hammer of the Gods, Parliament of Justice,
Hellboy, Catwoman, 86 Voltz: The Dead Girl,
The Goon, Quixote, Magician Apprentice (with
Bryan J.L. Glass) The Cross Bronx, The Darkness,
The Spirit, Red Sonja, and Rapture with Taki
Soma. His writing stint on the final run
of the original Thor as well as on Thor: Blood
Oath has been widely acclaimed. Beta Ray
Bill and Ares are amongst his other Marvel
Comics writing credits.
Mike is currently working on The Mice
Templar, The Victories for Dark Horse Comics,
Takio and Powers with Brian Bendis, all creator
owned titles

- Reviewed in the United States on June 23, 2017Very similar to a comic I been slowly working on for the last three years, these creators did a different angle than my but has common themes like use of Aleister Crowley during a World War. A fantastic read, a good way to gauge how I want to craft my own comic. The art is fantastic and storytelling is something you would see from an Alan Moore or Grant Morrison comic. Highly recommended.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 15, 2018We read this as part of the comic book club I belong to. I like the concept and there are some really interesting ideas in it. Since it's based on real people it was interesting to research what parts of the book actually happened (hint: it's more than you think). I really liked the art overall though it was difficult to tell a few of the characters apart.
The biggest problem I had with it was that I felt like the story hadn't been fleshed out enough. As I said, the concept is great but I felt like there should have been more. Still, I would recommend it if you're interested in the subject matter.

Keine Empfehlung. Minimum 1 Stern (drunter ist nicht möglich)
