Disclaimer: I am a classically-trained pianist and I was seeking an inexpensive keyboard with realistic feel to keep in a vacation home so I could practice and learn new music when I'm away from home and my REAL piano. This instrument is perfectly adequate for that. Sounds OK, keys are weighted full-size piano keys and the build quality is solid. Takes 30-45 minutes to assemble stand and you just need a screwdriver. Nothing better I know of for this price. Came very well packed with styrofoam and bubble wrap and (unassembled) can be transported in a compact car. I just got it last week so I can't comment on durability, but I would recommend this instrument to anyone with goals like mine.

This is coming from the view of an beginner, but I love this piano! I should note that I have never written a review before, however if you are looking for great deal, then you have found it. I was looking for a digital piano, with weighted keys but my budget was around five hundred dollars. After looking at a bunch of Yamaha and Casio keyboard, I stumbled across the Alesis Cadenza. It looked simple and yet had all feature I could possibly want (headphone jack, Midi, aux out etc..). It does not have all the crazy extra stuff, however like I said I just wanted a piano. The delivery was super fast, and assembly took less then fifteen minutes. When I finally got a chance to test it out, I was blown away by the sound quality, and how it felt like a baby grand. So far I am very, very pleased with this item, and would definitely recommend to anyone... well maybe just to beginners, and amateurs.

Just wanted to inform future buyers that this does come with the pedal. No need to buy it separately like I did.

Right off the top I want potential buyers to know that this DOES include a sustaining pedal so no need to buy one separately (as Amazon suggests with it's "buy together with...) This is a great piano - wonderful sound, full 88 keys with hammer action and easy assembly (for the stand itself - not the keyboard). Several inputs for a variety of uses, including MIDI and USB, which aren't normally found at this price point. I don't understand the negative reviews based on not being able to find the owner's manual online since a comprehensive one is included. I do agree with another reviewer that the maximum volume could have been a bit louder but that isn't enough for me to give this less than 5 stars. I am a trained pianist (my primary piano is a Schimmel) and love the touch of this keyboard, which serves as a secondary piano at a second home. It's an amazing buy. I couldn't be happier with it.

I just received the piano as a Christmas gift within 2 days. However, I experienced the same problem as one customer mentioned before. Two keys are failed to provide any sound!! I recorded a video. Just hate to repack it which is heavy (>70lb). What can I do? My Christmas might be ruined by this junk!

Update: 7/3/12

So, after a slight delay in receiving the package (on my end, Amazon shipped it in no time at all), I got a brand-new Cadenza.... that still has 3 keys that don't work as they still have that obnoxious clunking sound which also affects the spring-back of the key. Having played piano for 15-odd years now (almost of all of which was on a real piano), I have to say that I'm very disappointed in the quality of this piano. Granted, for the price, I wouldn't expect to have the graded hammer effect or weighting that higher-end Yamahas and Casios offer, but I would, at the very least, expect all of the keys to work.

Disappointing, but for almost $500, I expect a lot more quality than this. I'm seeking a refund this time and a more reputable brand.

Original review:
I ordered this piano mostly because it comes in a bit under it's closest competitor (a Casio). However, after jamming out for a few hours after receiving and assembling it today, I noticed that 4 of the keys (D and E below C, F 2 octaves below C and A 3 octaves below C, to be specific) made a much louder clacking noise when played than their neighbors. There appears to be a defect in either the individual key padding or spring mechanism.

If you want to check your own keyboard, I suggest turning it off and playing one key at a time to check for the sound and feel of each key. For mine, it was pretty dramatic, the clacking sound was still audible even when the key was pressed to full effect at max volume.

Anyway, it's returnsville for this one and Amazon should have a new one to me by Saturday.

Bought this in March 2012 for my 6-year-old boy. He just started his piano lessons 2 months ago. I was thinking of getting him a "beginner's big toy" but it turned out to be so good that me and my wife also enjoyed it a lot.

The sound of this piano is outstanding for the price. BUT, there is little to no sustain when the sustain pedal is pushed. Most of the other reviews that I have read seemed to be pleased with their piano, so I am wondering if it is just my piano that is defective. Other than the sustain problem it is a good piano for the price. And I like the weighted keys.
