Keeping concerned family and friends updated when there’s an emergency isn’t always possible, but it is made easy with Alexa Emergency Assist. You can add up to 25 people as emergency contacts who will be notified and kept informed when a call with Urgent Response starts and ends. Once they know, they can Drop In, Call, or Message you to coordinate how they can help, providing peace of mind for all of you.

What is Alexa Emergency Assist?
Alexa Emergency Assist is a subscription service that provides an extra level of protection to help keep your family safe. With Alexa Emergency Assist you can get help in an emergency, keep your Emergency Contacts informed, and receive Smart Alerts for alarms in your home whether you’re home or away. Emergency Assist provides fast, hands-free access to an Urgent Response agent 24/7, 365 days a year, and works with all Echo smart speakers and smart displays. Just say, “Alexa, call for help” to speak with trained agents who can request the dispatch of emergency responders - such as police, the fire department, or an ambulance - based on information you provide on the call. Emergency Assist includes smoke and carbon monoxide alarm sound detection. If an alarm is triggered Alexa will announce on all your devices that an alarm has been detected and instruct you to leave the home and call for help. You will also receive a Smart Alert on your mobile phone where you can listen to a sound snippet of the alarm, or Drop In on the device if you’re away from home. The Smart Alert also includes a button that enables you to call Urgent Response from your mobile phone.

How do I subscribe/signup to Alexa Emergency Assist?
Subscribe on the Alexa Emergency Assist page or by saying, “Alexa, buy Alexa Emergency Assist” from your Echo device and provide the information required. When you have completed check-out, download the latest version of the Alexa app (if not already installed) and follow the on-screen instructions. Alexa Emergency Assist is only available to customers in the 50 US states and requires at least one supported Echo device. You can manage your subscription anytime through your Amazon account under Your Memberships & Subscriptions, or by contacting Customer Service.
Which Echo devices work with Alexa Emergency Assist?
Emergency Assist works with Echo devices including all generations and configurations of Echo, Echo Dot, Echo Plus, Echo Flex, Echo Studio, Echo Spot, and Echo Show. You can also call Urgent Response from select, third-party Alexa-enabled devices that support Alexa Communications. Alexa Emergency Assist is not supported on Alexa-on-the-go devices including Echo Auto and Echo Buds.
How do I setup Alexa Emergency Assist?
Before you begin, make sure you have the latest version of the Alexa app on your phone, and that your Echo device software is up to date. Just ask, “Alexa, is your software up to date?“. To setup Emergency Assist, open the Alexa app, tap More and select Alexa Emergency Assist. From the dashboard, tap the settings cog, then “Your Information” to review your profile information and verify that your emergency address and phone number are correct. From the “Your Information” page, tap “Manage” to add Critical Information such as any medical conditions, gate codes, etc. (Optional) that will be useful to first responders. To setup Emergency Contacts, return to the dashboard and tap “Add/Remove” to add people that you want to be notified in case of an emergency. If you would like to enable Smart Alerts, tap the settings cog, then “Smart Alerts” to select the types of alerts you'd like to receive.
Tip: To ensure that Alexa is within voice range in an emergency, we recommend having at least one Echo device in each room or space in your home. To ensure that Alexa detects selected sounds in your home, place your Echo devices close to the smoke or carbon monoxide detector that you want to monitor.
