How customer reviews and ratings work
Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

The remote is not working at all

I just bought a replaceable fire stick remote and it is not working I looked on several you tube videos to see how to set it up and it’s still not working. I robooted The Who fire stick for 30 seconds and pressed and hold the home button on the remote for 12 seconds and still not working.

Fire TV app free on your phone, phone goes to sleep so it's a pain. Why is a simple remote so expensive Amazon?

Well I was using it for my Fire TV. This is my 2nd remote and this one lasted 4 months. Just stopped working again. Changed batteries, Troyes to sync it multiple time. Did everything including a bunch of stuff on YouTube. NOTHInG! I have a silicone case in it so it did not fall and break. This is the 2nd broken one this year. I’m about to switch to something else and not have to deal with this anymore. And seriously? $30 and I can get it with another fire stick for $40. It’s like you design these to fail because we would not buy another fire stick it we have to buy another remote.

I am super unhappy with this remote and I am super unhappy with the customer service provided around the issues they repeatedly have. They admit these remotes don't work and wont replace it with one that does. I pay for prime monthly but cant access the video options because I have to replace the remote at least every 6 months. Considering cancelling prime altogether over this nonsense.

Bought a replacement for a remote that the Great Dane decided was a chew toy. It's super easy to add the new remote to an existing Fire TV box (or stick). Just turn on the Fire TV (Home screen) and hold the home button down on the new remote! You will see a notification on the screen that the new remote is now paired wit the fire tv. DONE!
I was worried as the instructions tell you to navigate to the settings menu on the fire tv. How the heck do you do that without a working remote?! You don't have to, just hold the home button down until you get the notification it is paired.
I just wish the remotes didn't cost nearly as much as a new box did. They are too expensive!

I bought this to replace the one that came with our device and stopped working after a year and out of the blue. We've used this one a couple weeks and have already start showing signs of glitching by not connecting to the device all the time. I'm guess these Amazon remotes are just crap. That's bad considering they're so expensive to replace. Luckily, it still works most of the time, but I didn't pay full price for a sometimes working item.

This remote was bought to replace the original remote which came with Fire TV. It is lost or stuck inside an electric recliner. Why it is being returned - When you make a selection with the remote it takes several seconds for it to select your item. Sometimes requiring you to select again. On the opposite end it will all of a sudden rush through an Apps entire viewing menu without stopping. Last, it is going through batteries almost every four days. The original remote did not go through batteries very often. I did try to resolve with technical support. The fix worked for 1/2 a day and it is back to not working well and batteries are dead again. I am sending this one back and ordering another one to see if it was just a glitch with my remote.

I love my fire tv box...but the remote, not so much. For an aging diva with slightly arthritic hands, it's almost impossible to open. I eventually mastered it, but then the darn thing just quit working. I tried everything I could think of...replacing the batteries, holding the button down and waiting 10 seconds, unplugging everything and starting all over, all to no avail. DEAD. So I ordered a new one, which when it arrived, I couldn't open to insert the new batteries! Talk about frustrating. My nephew eventually came over and sorted it all out, but even he, with his big strong hands, had difficulty at first. So now I'm up and running again, but listened to a lot of NPR while it was down. I would also suggest adding an on button and volume control.
