And just who, or what, is the handsome stranger who keeps turning up in her life?
You'll love the twist and turns in this tale of supernatural mystery and magic. Perfect for fans of The Paper Magician and Miss Peregrine’s.
If you want to sleep easy at night, don’t poke the gods.
Not that I set out to tick them off. I set out to get the gold thorn needed to save the life of the god, Ra.
To do that, I had to steal the crown of the Slavic sky god, Perun, to trade for the thorn. Now Perun is after me, as well as the Slavic god of the underworld, each of whom want the crown—and the intense magical power it contains—for himself. I’ve promised the crown to Hades, but he seems to have vanished.
There’s no place to take cover from the gods—no hidey-hole they won’t sniff out. Somehow, I have to keep the crown safe until Hades returns—and manage to stay alive while doing it.
Empath and psychic Oona Goodlight hadn’t woken that morning thinking her life was about to change. Her life had already changed plenty in the year since she’d discovered a dead body at the ice rink and fallen in with the wizard, Diego Adair. She certainly hadn’t expected to be asked to find a stolen chalice and help avert a war between humans and fairies. Or for her mother and grandmother, who famously don’t get along, to go with her.
But the second part of the request, discovering who murdered the Keepers of the artifacts and bringing the killer to justice—that might be not only impossible, but deadly.
If only the supernatural would leave her alone. Despite her attempts to stay clear of intrigue she’s pulled into a hunt for a missing woman by a client whose story doesn’t ring true, and for the truth for a murdered stranger and a dead friend.
There’s also a mystery stalker, that raging seven-foot tall beast-man, an angry djinn, and her feelings for the wizard, Diego Adair, to deal with. When the stalker’s attentions turn deadly, Oona will have to draw on every bit of magic inside her to stay alive.
Oona Goodlight just wants to get through hockey practice, but a dead body on the ice means practice is canceled. A secret psychic and empath, she is shocked by the brutal death and shocked again when she witnesses the murder—and the killer—in a vision.
When a wizard investigator asks her to use her psychic abilities to find the murderer, she’s pulled into a battle she never wanted to fight against a grudge-holding foe who’s waited a long time see her dead.
If Harry Potter and Kinsey Millhone had a love child, she would be Oona Goodlight—wicked smart, a bit of a loner, and relentless on the hunt. If you enjoy the perfect combination of murder mystery and the paranormal blended with a dash of romance, you’ll love this series.
Dead magicals are turning up in the South Bay, the first one literally at Oona’s feet. Then the body of another magical turns up in a backyard swimming pool. And another, in a water trap at an exclusive golf course.
Things get personal when Oona’s grandmother tells her a banshee has begun wailing outside Gran’s window, and it’s pretty clear to all that the two things are entwined. And explains why Gran had gifted Oona with a very special book of protective spells.
Something twisted is going on, and the Magic Council has charged Oona and Diego with discovering who is behind it—if they can survive long enough to discover the truth.
Book 1 Ice-Cold Death
Oona Goodlight just wants to get through hockey practice, but a dead body on the ice means practice is canceled. A secret psychic and empath, she is shocked by the brutal death and shocked again when she witnesses the murder—and the killer—in a vision.
When a wizard investigator asks her to use her psychic abilities to find the murderer, she’s pulled into a battle she never wanted to fight against a grudge-holding foe who’s waited a long time to see her dead.
Book 2 Barbed Wire Heart
Oona has had more than enough of the dark side of magic. She wants nothing more than to dust her hands clean of all things supernatural and go back to a quiet life in her oceanfront cottage. If only the supernatural would leave her alone.
Despite her attempts to stay clear of intrigue, she’s pulled into a hunt for a missing woman by a client whose story doesn’t ring true, and for the truth for a murdered stranger and a dead friend. There’s also a mystery stalker, that raging seven-foot-tall beast-man, an angry djinn, and her feelings for the wizard, Diego Adair, to deal with.
When the stalker’s attentions turn deadly, Oona will have to draw on every bit of magic inside her to stay alive.
Book 3 Vulture Moon
When a murder victim’s mother hires Danyon and Peet to prove her daughter’s coven is to blame for her death, psychic Oona Goodlight and wizard Diego Adair are plunged into magic that's deeper and darker than either imagined.
Things get personal when Diego’s mentor mysteriously disappears and Diego vanishes soon after. With the night of the Vulture Moon approaching and rumors of black magic rituals under that moon growing ever more persistent, Oona has to work fast before those dearest to her are the next victims.
Book 4 Chalice and Blade
Oona hadn’t woken that morning thinking her life was about to change. Her life had already changed plenty in the year since she’d discovered a dead body at the ice rink and fallen in with the wizard, Diego Adair. She certainly hadn’t expected to be asked to find a stolen chalice and help avert a war between humans and fairies. And for her mother and grandmother, who famously don’t get along, to go with her.
But the second part, discovering who murdered the Keepers of the artifacts and bringing the killer to justice—that might be not only impossible but deadly.
A group of strangers bursts into laughter without knowing why. A driver tries to run down two people he’s never seen before. A stranger calls a woman’s name, knocks her to the ground, and runs away.
When the odd emotional outbursts escalate to murder, a killing Oona is convinced was not the fault of the person wielding the murder weapon, the hunt is on to find the person or entity behind it before more people die and more innocent people are blamed.
The killer is on the hunt, too. Oona seems a good prospect for what he has in mind. Or maybe her friend, Nic, would be best. Not a problem. As an accomplished emotional manipulator, he can make Oona and Nic do whatever he pleases—even fight the other to the death.
Only one problem—the ghost rose grows in a nearly impossible-to-reach place. To get there, I’ll enlist the aid of a goddess who hates me, overcome the vicious guardians of the rose, and, oh, yeah, find a missing Hell Hound.
If I fail to retrieve the rose and its thorn, Ra will die. His death will spark a war among the gods guaranteed to break the world.
I was five years old when the Queen of the Fairies gifted me with elemental magic. She told me then that one day she would come for a favor and that I would grant that favor, no questions asked. Twenty-eight years later, that day has come, but the favor the queen asks is impossible for me to grant.
She’s not the forgiving sort. The Queen demands I obey her or lose the gifts she gave me all those years ago. I’ve built my life on those gifts. Without them, I’ll be nothing.
Not to mention that Lady Califia also wants something I can’t deliver, and she’s already demonstrated what her displeasure can do. An asshole wizard seems to think he owns me, too. If there’s a way out of this mess I’ve gotten myself into, I can’t see it.
But I’m sure as hell not going to roll over and give up.
If Lady Califia had any doubts about my human and magical abilities, they ended when I recovered the Mermaid’s Lament for her—even if things didn’t turn out the way anyone expected.
When a stolen jar holding the captured soul of an ancient, evil goddess must be found, she turns to me again. The stakes are even higher this time. If I can't find and retrieve the jar before the thief opens it and sets free the wicked soul inside, all hell will break loose.
On top of that, it turns out the best person to help locate the jar is that asshole demigod who’s already tried to kill me more than once. But the demigod isn’t nearly as dangerous as the twisted soul in the jar. It’s looking for a body to inhabit seems to think mine would suit it quite well.
If you like complete-in-each-book stories with a new take on supernatural deities, you'll love The Goddess Jart. Perfect for fans of K.F. Breene, John Conroe, and Lindsey Broker.
