About the Author
Sir John Tenniel (1820–1914) was a British illustrator, graphic humourist and political cartoonist whose work was prominent during the second half of England’s 19th century. Tenniel is considered important to the study of that period’s social, literary, and art histories. He was knighted by Queen Victoria for his artistic achievements in 1893.
Tenniel is most noted for two major accomplishments: he was the principal political cartoonist for England’s Punch magazine for over 50 years, and he was the artist who illustrated Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass.

About this particular copy of the book; I'm very impressed overall. The binding is solid and well made, it has a built in bookmark ribbon. The edges of the pages are gold painted, it looks rather original/antique. The pink/purple works pretty well, I had my reservations about that at the beginning, but when I saw it it was really good. The book contains an extensive collection of stories, and all the favorite Lewis Carroll classics are there, starting with Alice. Yes, the book does feature the original woodcut illustrations, which is a big plus for me, as well as the rabbit hole falling typesetting correctly.
