Product Description
The aliens have landed! Scream and run for cover! This fantastic Alien Abduction Lamp seemingly hovers on your tabletop as the light beam underneath captures an unsuspecting cow. Little glow in the dark aliens peer out of their circular windows, surveying your bedroom with scrupulous eyes catching site of your dirty laundry and battered romance novel. The Alien Abduction Lamp looks like something out of a 1950's B Movie and is a fantastic table lamp for any home or office. There are 4 different functions on the Alien Abduction Lamp - Off, Cockpit only (the cockpit light pulses and phases through green and yellow lights), Beam only (a steady glow from the bottom of the lamp) and All On (the Cockpit pulses and phases whilst the beam glows steady). - Reviewed in the United States on October 7, 2010The Alien Abduction Lamp, designed by Lasse Klein, is a hoot! Very well made, its polished steel saucer glows green through the little windows, with an alien peering out some of them. An unfortunate bovine is posed mid-capture inside the plastic "beam" stand that glows in three modes (plus off) with the saucer cockpit according to the antenna switch position. The long-life LEDs add to the other-worldly look & feel. No where in the instructions does it provide wattage, but I don't imagine it's very much.
Note that this item ships from UK and is configured with a corresponding plug and requires 220 VAC. You _will_ need an up-converter and plug adapter if you wish to use this in the US. This up/down converter from Amazon has everything you need to make it work (200 watts is plenty), for about $20:
Power Bright VC200W Voltage Transformer 200 Watt Step Up/Down 110 Volt - 220 Volt

- Reviewed in the United States on July 11, 2011Another reviewer mentioned getting it on E-Bay for a hundred dollars. This lamp is often unavailable, hence the price. With google shopping I got for just over a hundred from a European internet wholesaler.
With the lamp, the saucer is bronze/silver, plastic but seems much like metal. You can pretty much tell the aliens in every other window are plastic and not much detail, but need to be very small so they're still OK. The cockpit lights slowly alternate between green and orange.
Below the craft is the plastic cone lit by clear LEDs representing the tractor beam/force field abducting the unfortunate Holstein. Mine has a few minor scuffs that may be my fault. So there may be a reason the lamp comes with a pair of white cotton gloves. The craft attaches to the plastic cone with a plastic disc, the only attachment hardware on the lamp. The craft and cone then rest on top of the field of grass and you a fair amount of leeway in where you position the craft given the size of the cow.
The cow's left hoof has a notched tip that securely fits into a divet in the field. The tail, spotting, udders, and ears of the Holstein look good, but the eye is like the dog's in "The Little Rascals.' I guess you could say a trance-like state has been induced in her during the abduction.
Pulls 3.1 watts with both cockpit and force field/tractor beam lights, 2.3 with just cockpit lights, and 2.1 with just force field/tractor beam light. Alien craft's top antenna is the rotating switch. Having ended up with a Best Buy gift card, their adapter needed an adapter of it's own, so the total was fifty three dollars. Thanks, Aunt Ginny!
Overall, one of the best lamp curiosities you could possibly spend nearly two hundred dollars on.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 19, 2011The Alien abduction lamp is awesome. It is a very sleek well made work of pop-art. Dont expect to use it as a functional lamp, as it doesn't exactly illuminate a room. But it's a cool thing to have sitting on your desktop anyway. To start with, the packaging itself is cool, with the 50s style graphics, and pulling the saucer out of the box is part of the fun. They even ship it with white gloves, to prevent fingerprints on the saucer. I also got a t-shirt and "top secret" assembly instructions. The saucer itself is made of metal, with a shiny finish, and feels very solid. The beam is a piece of plastic that screws into the bottom of the ship, and acts as a stand for the lamp. The light switch is on the top of the ship and looks like an antennae. The lights are LED and have three modes. One is just the ship lights, which fade/alternate between green and orange, illuminating the three little space aliens inside the ship. The second mode is just the beam light which is a white light, that illuminates the abducted cow. And the the third mode is both the ship lights and the beam. And there is the off mode.
When I received my lamp one the alien heads had broken off during shipping. I contacted the company and they promptly resolved the matter by sending me a replacement lamp.
Needless to say, the alien abduction lamp exceeded my expectations! I definitely recommend this for believers and skeptics alike.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 2, 2010This lamp is really amazing. The quality of construction is very impressive, the metal work is flawless and the black chrome finish is spectacular (they even provide a pair of cotton gloves to handle the lamp parts without leaving fingerprints). The "beam" is made of a very thick plastic material (plexiglass or similar) and when lit it exudes a glow that really does make the disk look like it's hovering. The switch on top of the disk rotates it between window lighting only, beam lighting only, window and beam lighting, and off. As an added bonus, the LEDs inside the windows shift colors. The aliens peering out the windows are great! The cow has a peg in one foot that inserts into a hole in the grass base that does a convincing job of making the cow look like he's being levitated. And yes, the grass base is nicely made as well. Even the box graphics are cool! This is not made of off-the-shelf components, everything appears to be custom-made for this lamp. My one and only complaint is the same as the other reviewer, it comes with a UK 220v plug on it and you'll need a voltage converter to use it in the US. But that's a small price to pay to display this wonderful piece in your home! Look around for the best price, I bought mine off of eBay from a UK seller and paid right at 100 bucks including shipping.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 2, 2011The Alien Abduction Lamp is my favorite conversation piece ever. As others have noted, it is superbly made of the best materials. [...] As a US customer, mine came ready to use: no need for an adapter. All my friends and relatives say the same thing: "Where did you get that? I've got to have one of those!"
