Cassidy Hamilton doesn’t think life can get any worse after being sequestered in a convent on Europa. A Kalquorian invasion quickly changes her mind, and she barely eludes her people’s greatest enemy. Fear and desire become a heady mixture when her spying reveals the aliens’ intentions for Europa’s nuns: bondage and seduction. But that’s nothing compared to the plans Captain Tranis and his clanmates Lidon and Degorsk have for the young woman when they catch up to her.

I gave this book a 5 rating as there were many aspects that brought the whole story together and made for an exciting if somewhat frightening conclusion.

First, we have a dangerous mission by a small group of Kalquorians on a spy ship trailing a larger Earth supply transport ship. The supply ship makes a stop on the dark side of the Jupiter moon Europa. The Kalquorians are not sure what is on Europa to draw General Hamilton. It definitely is not a military outpost as it is way too small. They intend to capture General Hamilton as they need the codes to safely get through the two wormholes leading to Earth. One is the Bermuda Triangle and the other an Asian Triangle.

General Hamilton sent his son on a suicide mission where he died. He then tried to get his beautiful wife to marry his older friend. When she refused, he got her on a false charge of lewdness. She was sent to prison where she died.
The General placed his young granddaughter at the convent on Europa to keep her 'pure'. Now he wants to marry her to that same old man he wanted her mother to marry. That is the reason for this out of the way stopover.

The Kalquorians capture General Hamilton and begin interrogating him. Meanwhile, the Kalquoraians discover that there are about 150 marriageable young women on Europa. They leave the young ones in the care of the older nuns and take the ones eligible to marry into a clan. One of these is voyeuristic 19-year-old Cassie Hamilton. Dramok, Tranis; Nobek, Lidon; and Imdiko, Degorsk first glimpse her running to warn the other girls at the convent of the arrival of the Kalquorians. They are unanimous in their desire to make her their Matara, the center of their lives. Lidon who is a natural born hunter relishes the hunt. He gets his Dramok, leader, to also play a small part.

Lots of aspects to this sexy story with a bit of dubcon and LOTS of sex! If these things bother you, you should probably not read it. This is my second time through these stories and I love them! 5 stars from dirty ole me!

I am writing this review after reading the entire series - well through Alien Interludes. It is very interesting looking at what life could be like living in a theocracy. St. John doesn't make a very convincing case for a global government that combines Christianity, Judaism, and Islam, but anything is possible. I have to agree with what most of the other three reviewers have said. This has a slapped together, cold feel to it that I was not expecting. This was the 4th book I've read starting with Alien Interludes and then following the published order. It makes me wonder if Alien Conquest was the first book written even though it is the 3rd published (think of the Star Wars movies).

CONS: I kept wondering how the leaders of this all important spy mission could spend so much time breaking in a nineteen year old, convent raised, repressed, emotionally tramatized girl. Yes, it helps that Cassidy was highly intelligent, curious, and an advid reader of the Kama Sutra, but still.

I also had a problem with the re-education of the women of the Europa convent. I understand that saving the Kalquorian race is essential, that the women had to be given the knowledge that there are other options besides sex is bad. But the means used seem rushed and extreme. Kalquorian civilization won't be extinct for another 275 years, I think the men could have waited 5 weeks until transport could be arranged before full scale re-education was started. Let's not even forget about why the humans almost succeeded in killing the crew-can we say caught with your pants down to the extreme?

No means no! Yes, the men were pushing their chosen female to accept their new roles, but would it have hurt to be merciful and allow the women's refusal to stand from time to time. The saying that more flies are caught with honey rather than vinegar holds true in this situation. Giving Cassidy time to think and process always resulted in her making strides to accept her situation. I kept screaming for the guys to back off a bit. If I had not read the follow up short story first, I am not sure I could have continued reading this book.

I also had a problem with the villian being transported in the nude with his grand-daughter on board.

PROS: Great sex scenes, again complicated alpha males, interesting plot elements that are not typical in capture eroromance. I was introduced to philosophical and political issues which made this book more than literary porn. I think that Mrs. St. John has a lot to offer the reader. I respect her literary style and point of view. I really hope she writes more for the Kalquor series.

There are reviews on this book that really shouldn't be here. If you don't like the subject matter, why in this universe would you buy this or accept an ARC for it?

I've read other "alien menage" series and I have to say that this series is as good (or better) as any out there. This author's writing is easy to read and emotional in impact. The stories are extremely erotic MFMM and MMM is hinted at but not described in any sort of detail. This is all about the woman and she is most definitely one very lucky lady. The matara of a clan is treated with respect and desire. The men in the clan know that she is the key to the future of their people since there are few females on their planet able to give birth.

If you are new to this genre, give it a try if you are tempted by the subject matter. If it offends you, move onto something else. If you enjoy this series half as much as me, you'll have found your new best read.

2.0 out of 5 stars Distasteful
Reviewed in Canada on December 23, 2016
The stars are for the writing craft. The author is clearly experienced and it was a pleasure to read work that is free of errors, both spelling and grammatical. I found the book itself distasteful. Essentially, the aliens find two hundred Earth women (who are nuns incidentally) and view them as spoils of war. The main female character is presented as a repressed young woman, indeed all of the nuns are, who struggles with her interest in all things sexual because of the societal mores in place on future Earth. (Women who are overtly sexual or are attacked sexually are punished equally and horrifically.) Despite the constant push-pull Cassidy experiences when "clanned" (married) by three of the aliens, the method of reconditioning her and the rest of the captives by sets of three aliens males boiled down to sleep deprivation, drugging, public humiliation and rape, imo. The alien males were painted as being individuals who revere females, seeing as they have few of their own and are bordering on extinction, but the treatment of the women belied that. I was hopeful for a HEA and there was an attempt toward the end, although other events transpired to overshadow it. I love books with strong alpha males and strong women who have the will to surrender but this book didn't cut it for me.

4.0 out of 5 stars really enjoyed this
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on June 29, 2014
I enjoyed this book although there were parts that were not to my liking. Parts that had to do with forceful sex although the characters in question thought it was the right thing to do and they were following instructions. Out of that, it was a very good story. So I will go on to read the next one.
