Rev. Carter is a man, who in the midst of his journey to find permanency within his faith, un-expectantly encounters "experiences of the third kind." He denies these experiences, hides from them, tries to bury them and even attempts to run away from them until those very experiences can no longer be silenced. As the old gospel song says, "There's no hiding place down here...."
This book is informative, quick, succinct but most important, exciting and thought provoking. You will still be thinking about this book long after you've read it. Carter has done a lot of homework. He freely sprinkles history, an informal bibliography, numerous authors and scholars throughout the book along with websites to arouse your curiosity and move you beyond being a passive reader/observer. When he gets to the biblical passages and interpretations, you'll want to have your bible in hand, not to find fault in anything Carter says, but to know that there is a lot of truth in his interpretations. He will have you thinking about aliens in a very new light, which will take you beyond any cinematic depiction of what an alien is, who they are and how they figure in the evolution of humankind. This book would be a wonderful companion to History Channel's "Ancient Aliens" series.
Alert #1: Be sure to read the Preface and the Introduction; do not skip these chapters of the book. Reading these chapters will give you the information that will help you to fully understand Rev. Carter's background in theology and his personal experiences--the very experiences that propelled him to write this book in the first place.
Alert #2: Perhaps the most important warning: Do not read this book if you don't think you can survive your faith (whatever it is) being shaken. This book must be approached with an open heart. This book will shake you up and rattle the very foundations of what you thought you believed in. If you aren't ready for that, then put it aside and take it on at another time. A must read, especially for Christians or those who grew up in the Christian faith.
I've had encounters with the so-called "Greys" since early childhood, and like Rev Michael Carter, have found this contact to be spiritually-based, uplifting and totally loving. The unconditional love and compassion I feel in the presence of the Greys is beyond words, and they've taught me so much about God, the universe, energy, myself, and the Oneness of all Creation.
Having done research into the biblical history of Earth, I totally agree with everything that Rev. Carter has to say in connection with ancient ET contact being the basis of many stories in the Bible. This does not take anything away from God, and in fact it only emphasises God's omniscience and omnipresence throughout all of creation, rather than diminishing and reducing this incredibly loving Energy Source to a limited, physical-type male God-figure that expresses the very human vices of anger, jealousy, judgement etc., as the Fundamentalists would have us believe.
In my opinion the last chapter is the most special. It is a nice description of the author's personal faith, which is most appropriate for this time in history. Would that more people could affirm that there are many paths to our relationship with the creator and who is to judge that my way is better than yours.
I wish the segment on Muslim et experiences was longer. What is given is again about as good an explanation as we have to explain how an untutored prophet could have produced the Koran.
This book will challenge your faith perspective and give you an opportunity to expand your consciousness. Yes, as one reviewer noted, it needs a lot of edit and proof reading, but a good reader can get over that and still get the underlying message.
