While this book is the Prequel to the Aliens: Fireteam game; it does setup many interesting plot points that I hope the game will address. The story is very gory even by Alien standards but it does introduce some characters who are more engaging that most of the stock victims and while there are things left unresolved, the game hopefully will address them. The story works well as a stand-alone and provides a well-paced treat for fans.
Now this is a prequel to Alien Firestorm Game that is coming out. How much of its related I doubt it after seeing the gameplay I doubt the story would matter in a left 4 dead like game.
The story is about Timothy Hoenikker who has arrived at a secret Wayland Yutanni Facilities that are developing technologies for the Colonial marines. In this story the Aliens are now already in the hands of Wayland Yutanni and known in the Universe so this is already not part of the Alien Universe that we are familiar with but the Black Goe from Prometheus is now a part of the Alien Universe. Aliens are known, Wayland Yutanni is already raising Xenomorphes, they already are researching on making them and that is where I believe the variety of Aliens are more likely to come in the game
The rest of the story is familiar to all Alien Stories and that the Alien is lose and you are trying to survive. It leads you the point where most likely IF the story is going to carried in the game is going to kick off.
Kind of like how DeadSpace left it off in the Animated Comics that they had released prior to the game release and the story carried forward from there.
Why I think this is good is because the Alien is kept the center of attention and fear. Yes there are human factors involved but the Alien is given equal time in it. The reader is reminded of the fear it brings and that experimenting with them only makes them worst.
Now is this the BEST story book. No, but for the price I am not going to deny it is good for the price however, I wouldn't say if its a must to read or listen to it. You can get by it
TL;DR dude and publisher need to do a bit better at proofreading before publishing but an ok read beyond that. Probably really only for folk that like the creatures though. Doubt this will make any new fans for Aliens.
