About the Author
Melinda Kinsman lives on a small peninsular called The Wirral, in North West England. She loves climbing mountains and rock-climbing (both abroad, and in her local mountains of Snowdonia), and she has always had a soft-spot for cuddly toys!
As Melinda has to lie down a lot each day, due to health issues, she spends most of that time using her iPad to write and illustrate her books. (Drawing can be especially challenging, as she needs to keep the iPad steady by balancing it with one leg up in the air - much to the amusement of her family!)
Melinda originally wrote a book of poems for her 6 year old niece a few years ago, but never dreamt of trying to publish them, or of trying to illustrate them herself. The advent of ebooks and handheld tablets now makes self-publishing an exciting possibility for her!
The Top of the Wardrobe Gang series of books are credited to both Melinda and a motley crew of cuddly toy characters. This bunch of cuddly toys live on the Top of the Wardrobe - they like to call this the "penthouse suite"! They enjoy reading, and want to try writing their own books. Most of the cartoon gang characters are based on "real" members of Melinda's cuddly toy family.

For those who are new to Melinda's series of books, welcome to The Top of the Wardrobe Gang - a team of cuddly toys who write the stories and ideas in this (and other) books. And remember to look for the alien's pet Zog on every picture! Aliens love astronauts because they find their boots delicious as snacks - each alien has a preference for different colored boots. When the astronauts land in their spaceship the aliens, knowing that the astronauts love strange new rocks, place a rock at their door and the astronauts come out to explore. But as soon as the astronauts are roaming around, their boots are taken by the aliens! The astronauts leave the aliens' planet, but soon another spaceship approaches only this one is a robot who doesn't contain astronauts or boots to munch. The robot likes rocks to eat, is invited to the aliens' home where they give the robot lots of tasty rocks and the robot gives their king a box of shiny silver boots. The robot tells the aliens he must return to earth because he is low on fuel. But the aliens show Hi the Robot a spaceship that runs on rocks and Hi the Robot repairs the ship and has the aliens join him on his trip back to earth - so don't be surprised if you meet boot loving aliens someday.
As is Melinda's style, at the end of the book are puzzles, quizzes, visual games - and the answers are all shown at the end. Delightful illustrations, lots of humor hidden in the pictures and a fine story with a solid message - Melinda has done it again! Grady Harp, July 15
The author, Melinda Kinsman, has written a series of stories about astronauts and aliens. In these adventures we meet some very funny but kind aliens. In this story astronauts and their spaceship land on the alien's planet. When the astronauts come out of their ship, the aliens steal their boots, they like red, blue and silver boots. Now, the poor astronauts have nothing to wear on their feet so they return home. Years later another astronaut returns to the alien's planet. However, this time it is just a spaceship without any astronauts. When you read this book, you will understand what adventures occur.
Parents/children will enjoy reading this book to their children. The children will enjoy hearing about aliens and astronauts and boots. They will have fun discussing all aspects of this story. The illustrations are bright and beautiful, and they depict the adventures of all concerned. This is such a fun and happy story.

Whenever there is such an encounter the aliens become quite happy, as one of their most favorite things to do is eat the astronauts' boots. They inspect the spaceships, test to see what they do, making it rather uncomfortable for the astronauts within.
No sooner does one spaceship make their getaway another lands, and the aliens do not waste a moment before testing and probing the new one. What they don't know is this is no ordinary spaceship, which leaves the aliens perplexed.
Find out exactly what the spacecraft is and what happens by reading this book.
The reader will find the storyline to be a delight and the artwork marvelous, colorful, and a perfect accompaniment to the story.
The illustrations are great and the aliens are not scary at all. It was so much fun to find the dog that was hiding on each page also.
Kinsman takes the reader on an adventure thru the writing, rhymes and illustrations.
Knowing that the Aliens end up to be astronauts' friends, also gives the reader opportunity to see that friendships are possible anywhere and anytime!
