Okay, this book is hilarious and really cute, and as the mother of a preschooler we are trying to potty train I thought it would be a great way to encourage him to wear underpants. But as the story developed, I sensed he was becoming apprehensive about the possibility of aliens landing in the backyard and pilfering through his sock drawer. At the end of the story I asked if HE wanted to wear underwear and he emphatically said, "No!" I asked why not and he plainly replied that he didn't want the aliens to steal them. My husband almost had to leave the room from laughing so hard. Fun book, but beware! :)

Right away this book is appealing to the eye. Bright colors with round friendly little aliens bouncing through the pages. And what's inside lives up to the cover and the excitement of the title. Its revealed the aliens visit the earth because of its underpants. And the story in fun rhyme proceeds to tell what aliens do with underpants. Its a great story to be realoud to younger kids, with simple words and great pictures that will hold their attention. A definate new favorite. That's sure to appeal to all.

This is such a fun book for both toddler boys and girls. My daughter was resistant to wearing underpants but now takes great joy in searching her underpants for hidden aliens every morning while getting dressed. It seems to be a great companion to toilet training books since wearing big girl or boy underpants is such a huge part of that process. Fun and silly, we read this book aloud all the time as part of our bed time routine. Aliens Love Underpants

Underwear is always a lively topic amongst children. So why not combine their love of underwear with another--Aliens! Most of our vision of Aliens consists of those little green martians flying from outer space to take over Earth. But in this hilarious picture book, that's just not the case.

"When aliens fly down to Earth,
They don't come to meet YOU...
They simply want your underpants--
I'll bet you never knew!"

Aliens Love Underpants! (Book & CD) is a fun story sure to entertain the whole family. Since there are no underpants in space, aliens come to Earth because they simply want to steal your underpants. And those silly aliens like underpants in all sizes and colors--large or small, red or green--no matter what kind of fabric they're made of. They think Mom's pink, frilly panties are a perfect place to hide. And Grandpa's woolly long johns make a super-whizzy slide! This zany rhyming tale describes the mayhem that breaks out when aliens visit Planet Earth to get their mitts (and tentacles) on underpants!

Ben Cort's lively illustrations are out of this world. You just can't resist the illustration of the Aliens admiring statues of underpants as if they were in the Louvre and the Hot Pants bumper sticker on their spaceship says it all.

How do I love underpants? Let me count the ways.

There's no story here, as such. Aliens love underpants and they like to steal them or borrow them and play with them in inventive ways. But, the illustrations are engaging and fun, the rhymes are clever, and there are loads and loads of every kind of underpants.

This is a great choice for a light and silly read, with no message, no agenda, and no irony. There's always room for funny and silly, and that's exactly what this delivers.

SUMMARY: This is the first book in the Love Underpants series. Aliens love underpants, but they don't have any on their planet so they must come to Earth in order to steal some. While here, they have a romping good time playing games with underpants and just being downright silly with them. The book ends with the warning that you should check your underpants before putting them on ..."in case an alien still lurks inside, unseen!"

ILLUSTRATIONS: The illustrations are my favorite part of the book. They are brightly colored with lots of humorous and fun details. I enjoyed the lovely variety of underwear in all shapes, colors and sizes!

THE GOOD: This is a cute concept for a silly book about underwear and aliens. What kiddo doesn't love reading about underwear?
THE NOT AS GOOD: I read these in backwords order which means I have gotten to the first book in the series last. Many people love this one the most. I, however, did not. Although the pictures were great fun, I couldn't get past the words which felt thrown together. Every single one of the books in this series has weak wording. The rhyming is forced and the vocabulary is lacking in creativity and imagination. Also, the ending is pretty creepy for a little kid's book. It may leave some kids very worried about putting on their underwear because of what may be lurking inside.

AGE RECOMMENDATION: Advertised for ages 4-7

My son is almost 3 and he doesn't seem to enjoy the story much. The concept is great, the illustrations are well done and entertaining to look at, but I really think the story could be funnier, more imaginative, and more adventuresome to hold a child's attention... especially with such a cute title.

My son loves Monsters Love Underpants and Pirates Love Underpants so I thought that this would be a hit also. It is a cute book and he does enjoy it but not like the other two. I also don't find that this one flows quite the same as the other too.
