This was recorded in denver, colorado. The songs sound fine and it still has the same lead singer. Was it recorded in the 1980's? 90's 00's? I don't know but it may even be earlier , it does seem that it was probably the 80's. The songs are good versions of the two big hits 'green eyed lady' and 'don't call us" plus several other decent songs. A few are instrumentals. The excellent 'bach door man' and 'chest fever'. "green eyed lady' is at a faster tempo than the studio version but still the same song and it rocks. The minor hit 'I got a song' is on here too. I saw this band in Denver and it was a good show , they reformed in the 00's and that's when I saw them at fiddlers green. Which was a large arena that was doing a oldies show. Other bands were 'bachman turner overdrive' and 'jefferson starship' , but this is a small club that this was recorded in. Very small. So Maybe this was recorded during that brief reunion tour they did in 2005. If you like this band then this should appeal to you. But if you only want their hits get a greatest hits package. They do a good version of 'boogie man' on here which is a bonus track on the 'don't call us' cd. The music is early seventies style all the way. Whenever it was recorded! For completists mainly this is a good live set , that should have had the hit 'tongue in cheek' on it too! Still it's a clear recording and worth it for collectors.

I found a little more info on this album on Jerry Corbetta's site; A live recording was made at Ebbets Field in Denver in July of 1975 that was released in 2006 on the Renaissance Label as Sugarloaf Alive in America. It was a good show and a nice sounding recording, but I was not at all happy with the packaging of the CD. The owner of the label stole photos from this site that were from 1970 and 1971 with Yeazel, MacVittie, and Bobby Pickett, and was prepared to release them this way. At my insistence, he finally decided to use the photo I sent him from the top of this page for the cover with a very poor looking design backing it. After telling him several times that Bobby Pickett was not on the CD, which is further proven when the individual band members are introduced during the show, he still put Bobby's name on the front cover and credits him on the inner sleeve as playing guitar on the disc. He also placed small versions of the pics from 1970-71 on the inner sleeve and took information from another site for the liner notes. At least it didn't turn out like he originally intended which was made to look just like it was a release from 1970 or 1971.
