About the Author
Major Tom Baird is a veteran of the Vietnam War, one of the pioneers of the Internet, a bush-pilot in Alaska, and now a missionary in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Tom became a Christian at a very young age. Shortly thereafter, Tom received the Gift of the Holy Spirit, which gave him the basic tools to help him survive and live a fruitful Christian life. Tom received his Bachelor of Science (B.S.) from Michigan State University in 1965. He was then commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army. After completing his training, he was promoted to First Lieutenant served in West Germany. A month after he received his promotion to Captain, He receives orders for the Mekong Delta of Vietnam, where he serves as a military advisor for the Army of South Vietnam (ARVN). He later served in South Korea under future Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff: Colin Powell. After he finished his overseas tours, he is sent to Fort Monroe, Virginia to oversee a create a new communications system for the Army. Little does he realize that he is creating the backbone for what we now know as the Internet. This change alone brings him into battle with evil forces, both human and demonic, who do not want this new system to come into being. Tom is then promoted to Major and directed to bring the new system to Europe under hostile conditions, and installing it there. He also engages in some Bible-smuggling in his spare time. During his final "overseas" tour, Tom begins to embark on a new career path, as a missionary bush pilot in Alaska. He brings the gospel of Jesus Christ to multiple remote areas that rarely receive ministry of any kind. He finished his Army career at Fort Monroe, Virginia where he further refined the Army communication system now known as the Internet. After he retired from military service, he becomes a missionary pilot full-time. Just when he thinks he will finish his life in Alaska, his wife of 44 years’ contracts ALS and dies a slow, grueling death. Little does Tom realize that with his wife’s death, the Lord was sending him on a new track in life. Convinced to help his sister care for her disabled husband on a luxury liner, Tom once again finds love. His future wife is a cabin attendant trying to make ends meet by working on this ship. She has been praying for a godly husband and God brings them together. Tom and his wife live on St. Vincent’s Island just off the coast of South America where he does missionary work.
