This is the Belgian Beer Bible indeed. More than 1100 are photographed and described. To my consternation I didn't find Ginder Ale , the foundation of the belly in front of me. Through a Google search I learned the brewery was dismantled, but luckily will rise again. At that time the publisher will have to prepare a new edition which in addition to this re-born Brabant ale will have another 500 new beers, because a lot of brewing is going on in the kingdom at the North Sea.
An aside: When people in the Flemish part of Belgium are asking for a lager beer (and are not particular about the brand) in a pub, they often ask for a "pils , please". The word" pils" the Flemish brought back from Czechoslovakia in the 16th century, when they were there as part of the mercenary army of the emperor Charles V and the main beer breweries in that country were located in the town of Pilzen. As a thank you they left the word" flamender" (Fleming) which in Slovak means drunken raver , and, no doubt , as a result of happy tastings of the product of Pilzen.

Loaded with helpful info for the Belgian beer drinker. Covers many facets of each beer: temperature, glass to use, etc. Corner of each page is color tabbed, depending on type of beer, dark, light, amber, etc. Only complaint is that the names of the beers are all in white type, which is hard to see on the tabs of pages with yellow background. Should have been in black type. "Just the facts ma'am" - no opinions given, which is as it should be. Amazon delivery flawless as usual.

5 Star book if you are into Belgian beers or just beer bottles in general. Great color photos on each page of each beer - but the even better part is they have the brewery glass to match - having a photo of that as well next to the bottle with some beer in it to see the color. Only knock is the binding - maybe rather see some kind of ring system, because with the book being this wide and having a standard glue in binding - my worry is that if you look at this book a lot, the pages might start coming out. Only improvement would be if they could have photos of the actual breweries/monasteries in the back where each are made.

I live near Belguim. I spend time at the Belgian Support Unit's pub at Ramstein Air Base...the Belgians love this book because it's in multiple languages. It is an exercise in beer you need to explore. Belgians are brilliant for not only having hundreds of beer but also having a cheese matched for every beer. You'll love this if you love beer...Belgian beer.
