No boiling over the top with this pan on your stove. It takes a bit longer to heat up than a smaller pot but when that jam gets a roiling boil it doesn't splatter all over the kitchen. Also if you do large quanities of applesauce this pan is great. Or cook 3 dungeness crabs? No problem, 10 ears of corn, no problem. Simmer a turkey carcass, no problem. The only thing wrong is the pot is big on the shelf but hey, its worth it. Great pot, only wish they made a 16 in stainless for making beer.

What can I say? Built like a tank and heats up fast. Easy to clean. Just follow the tips for cooking with stainless and you'll be fine. And definitely buy some Barkeepers Friend to get any stains out. Works like magic.

Every complete kitchen should have a 12-quart stockpot and All-Clad is the way to go. Yes, All-Clad is expensive but you are paying for quality that should last forever. Just look for it on sale. I like the fact that it fits on my large gas burners without the flame coming up the sides (which you should never let happen). Be sure to read the directions about not using high heat on All-Clad and other high-end cookware. This type of cookware is typically layered metals which holds heat beautifully, but can separate due to high heat and that will void the warranty. Yes, the manufacturers can tell if a pan has been subjected to excessive heat. I love this stockpot for large quantities of soup, stews, and making chicken and turkey broth. It is easy to clean up inside and out.

You can't really go wrong with All-clad. This mammoth pot can handle stew for 20 people, but be aware that if used for pasta water, you might be waiting a while for the core to heat up and get to a boil.
