I work almost everyday (including Sundays) so this pot has been my life saver (or the dinner saver). My older one was 5qt. cool touch Rival. This All-Clad cooker cooks so much faster than my older one (the inside temperature of All-clad gets 230F in high setting). Ribs and 5 pound chicken done in 4 hours in high. If you want crispy chicken skin, let it cook for 6 hours. I highly recommend this product.

By the way I put small roasting rack when I roast chicken or ribs so that they don't stew in the dripping. Save the dripping broth. Put it in the fridge overnight, and get rid of the fat. And use it in your soup or stew, of course, this cooker can do that job just fine as well.

I've been using this slow cooker at least twice a week. Time to time I would hear "pop" sound either in the middle or toward the end of the cooking time. I couldn't figure out what was making this sound. One day my husband found cracks on the ceramic insert. They were fine cracks, but the cracks were in inside and outside. I contacted All-Clad. The service rep. told me to send a picture of the cracks. So I did. For several weeks I didn't hear anything from them. So I contacted them again. Apparently they didn't get my email with the pictures. So I sent them again. The next day I got a phone call from All-Clad that they would send me a new insert. It arrived a couple of days ago. I made a most wonderful chicken soup with leftover rottisserie chicken yesterday. I'm starting my love affair with this slow cooker again.Read more ›

Of all the kitchen appliances I own, I really think my return on investment is greatest with this one. I've had it a year now, so I'm no longer in the "honeymoon phase" with it - and I've really used it on average 3 times per week throughout the entire year.

I bought this after I wore out my cheaper version slow cooker, and I knew that this time I was willing to spend a little more money (since I knew how to use it), and I knew I wanted a larger capacity.

It's very easy to clean the removable crock, the settings available are warm, low, and high, and you can program (to within a half hour) the length of cook time. When cook time is up, the machine switches to warm on its own.

The capacity is such that I CAN fit 2 whole chickens in it, I can also cook 2 tri tip roasts (2.5 -3 lbs each) or one large pot roast, however the cooking is still even when the pot is not near full (i.e. I often cook only one chicken or one tri-tip, and the cook time is still about the same).

You can serve succulent meals from this - really delicious stews and roasts, but you will absolutely get a better result if you do a little prep work on the stove beforehand. For most recipes, that means 20-30 minutes in the morning or night before.

Many slow cooked meals are "wintery" type foods, however I found myself using it very often in the Summer as well, because I dread turning on my oven or slaving over a stove in the heat of July. With the slow cooker, very little heat is generated into the house, and the other bonus is you don't need to be home - so we often ate BBQ brisket or pulled pork sandwiches this Summer after cooking the meat in this slow cooker.

I have purchased this product for myself as well as gifts for several brides-to-be. I thought All-Clad meant quality. Well, did I learn. Not only did my ceramic insert crack after several uses, but several of the gifts I had give also cracked [one wasn't even used once, one was used once & a third was used two times]. Trying to return something to All-Clad is next to impossible. They do not respond to one's email and I finally gave up trying to reach them via phone. I also have cookware ware from All-Clad, and one of the frying pans has discolored. Again, impossible to reach this company. I am done with All-Clad products. Good luck if you get this slow cooker. After reading so many positive reviews, I was very anxious to receive the slow cooker, in fact I was checking the delivery on UPS almost daily. However, it was a huge let-down. The item was so defective at first sight that I had to return it.

First of all, its exterior feels cheap, unlike the typical All Clad pots and pans. I have been cooking with only All Clad and bought several sets (LTDs, MC2s, copper core)for mom and family, so I know what to expect. My usual All Clad are all made in the US, and this is the first made-in-China item I purchased. I would like to the tell the All Clad management, if you are going to make premium products, stick to your Canonsburg roots and I don't mind paying more for quality. But charging All Clad premium for a piece of crap is unacceptable. This product also only comes with an one-year warranty, unlike a typical All Clad that comes with lifetime warranty.

Then, the lid is UNEVEN. It cannot cover the crock properly so there is are huge gaps on both sides when the crock is covered. The crock itself is a disaster. I have never seen a piece of china so roughly and carelessly made. The rim was uneven,with bubble defects all over the place, and the base was UNEVEN too! It was visually a defective crock, and worse than the cheapest piece of ceramic plate you can pick up at Target.

I am returning the whole product for a refund. For my next All Clad purchase, I will make sure it is the blue-blooded All Clad hand-made in the USA, not some cheap mock-ups made in China that are trying to charge the same premium for crappy quality.
