Designed for the delicate timing and high heat demands of steam cooking, this All-Clad stainless-steel steamer nestles deep into cooking vessels. The tiered structure fits both 6- and 8-inch diameter pots and creates an ideal steaming environment for small and large quantities of vegetables, greens, and fresh shellfish. Crafted from heavy-gauge 18/10 stainless steel, the steamer is strong without clumsiness and is easily controlled by its two riveted side loop handles. Measuring 8-1/2 inches in diameter, the lid features a deep draw to keep steam from escaping and has a gleaming mirror finish to match the body. Both pieces are pretty enough to bring to the table--a rather unusual trait in steamers--and safe in the dishwasher. I own it and love it. I purchased it in Sept of 2013, so I've had it for a while now and use it all the time. I have had no issues whatsoever with steaming vegetables, which is all I use it for. It still looks as good as new. I always hand wash it. It may be made in China, but the quality suits me just fine. It is heavy and sturdy and cleans up easily. The finish is flawless. The lid fits perfect - no rocking or other issues.
I use it with the 3.5 qt sauce pot and it looks pretty impressive, I have to say. Nice looking set since they are both the same diameter, even their lids are interchangeable. I will eventually get a smaller All Clad sauce pot like a 2 qt to use it with. I can't say a single bad thing about it. Go for it.

I purchased this steamer despite some of the negative reviews I read, and I'm happy I did. It fits well in my Copper Core 1.5 and 2.0 qt saucepans, and works fine for my needs- mostly steaming vegetables. Personally, after close inspection, I see absolutely no reason for people to assert that the quality of either the steamer or the lid is sub-standard. The weight is fine, the stainless finish is great, and it's difficult to imagine what some people were so bummed about. I'd recommend this steamer to anyone, recognizing that it does have volume limitations and cannot hold as much as larger steamer options. Obviously, people have different needs and tastes, and this steamer works fine for me. I'm proud to have added it to my copper core collection.

That said it's a great addition to the set. FIts my 2 quart saucier and my 3 quart saucepan. Huge capacity and has a tappered bottom to fit the smaller pots (don't have one to comment on this).

Includes an extra lid which I don't use (but doesn't hurt to have a spare...).

A lot of people complain about the quality of this product because it's made in China, ALL of the lids are made in China and this basket is the same metal and quality as any of the All Clad lids (in my opinion).
