That was the thought behind the design for this Saucier. Like its big brother the sauce pan, it has a wide mouth that helps reduce liquids and thicken sauces. As part of our D3 Collection, this Saucier features a bonded tri-ply construction made with a responsive aluminum core pressed together with 2 layers of durable, stainless steel all the way around the surface, for fast and even heat. At 3 quarts, it’s a good size for a saucy one-pot pasta for four. To keep your All-Clad looking brand new, we recommend washing your cookware with a soap and sponge instead of the dishwasher. Like all our bonded cookware, it's handmade in the USA at our Canonsburg, PA factory with ultra-durable materials that'll last a lifetime and never go out of style. A flat, stainless-steel lid is included to lock in moisture. Handles & handle loops are made in China.

Why no lid for 1 quart?

ALERT TO ALL CLAD!!!Please offer a cover for 1 quart saucier either with pot or at least separately-many have requested it and many of us use it for other purposes than as saucier-you provide a cover for 2 qt and 3 qt sauciers so why not for 1 quart?Expensive-should come with lid.-( use Bon Ami to clean all clad pots and NOT barkeepers which contains acid and can damage pots)-(BON AMI is natural)--UPDATE-I called All Clad -2 qt saucier lid does not fit 1 quart saucier-however now I see, from previous reviewer ,to purchase "Dux Top 6 glass replacement lid" for $13.99-thanks Ryan-will try

HORRIBLE PAN!

I was trying to find a great replacement for a one-quart saucier (Emeril brand) that is so horribly unbalanced that it falls backwards when sitting on a stove grate while the pan is empty. All-Clad is a solidly good brand (if you get American made All-Clad and not the junk produced in China) so I took the plunge and made the purchase. As soon as it arrived I opened the box, put the pan on the stove and guess what? It TOO fell over backwards. The handles on these smaller one-quart pans are probably the same size and weight of the handles used on larger, heavier pans and saucier. HIGH disappointed, the pan went immediately back into the box and was returned forthwith. I've since given up on trying to replace the one-quart as all of them seem to have the same problem....poorly designed with handles made for heavier pans.

All clad is a terrific brand, I've had a few from this manufacturer. Just disappointed that the picture is not an accurate representation of what you receive.

It's a little pricey, but it's a high quality piece of cookware. I use mine all the time. If you make a lot of sauces, or anything that needs to be reduced, this style of pan will do it faster than a traditional, straight-sided saucepan. This is the third piece of All-Clad cookware I've bought, and I think they make great products. I recommend it.

Another fantastic product from all-clad! I have been slowly replacing all my old calphalon pots and pans with the stainless all-clad. I wish i could do it all at once but everyone knows their prices prohibit the average person from doing that. So i buy one or two pieces at a time when I get a little OT from work. I wish i had discovered All-clad much sooner!

Fantastic product for smaller cooking chores - making gravy, cooking a few vegetables, caramelizing sugar, warming a bit of soup - anything you can think of that doesn't require a larger pan. It's solidly enough made that it does not tip over when you set it down empty, unlike our ancient Revereware one quart pan.

Why I only gave it 4 stars: the lack of a lid. Admittedly, most things you'd do in such a small pan aren't likely to require a lit, but every now and then you need one. Because of this, we're keeping our old Revereware pan around even though I much prefer using the All-Clad.
