I was SOO excited I thought ok this is a good time to look at the first few sentences of her book and see how it starts and then I figured I'd read it next week when I finished my current book.
WELLLL....THAT didn't happen. From the FIRST CHAPTER I could not put the damn book down!!! HOLY KERAP Lesley!!! You really did it!!!
I'm not eloquent in my reviews. They are based on my feelings and no, I can't quote the book and given articulate descriptions on character synopsis, blah blah etc...I speak from my heart and my head and how the book made me feel.
It grabbed me from the moment I read the first sentences. I wanted more! I wanted to know what was going on! I NEEDED to know about this man Max!!
So to sum up Lesley's book, it took me over, it made me laugh, made me sad and wanting to rescue Max. Wanting to tell him all women are not like that. I wanted to strangle Whit. What mother does that?? My heart was tugged and played with. My insides were ripped out then kind of sat there and then put back in and all happy and then ripped out and stomped on. I think Lesley revels in angst in her readers.
When words that are typed out into a book can GRAB you, make you FEEL, make you happy and giddy for a fictional character, make you hate a character like that, when words can give you compassion and pain all in one, then you KNOW you are reading a good book!!! It's the words that dance into your heart, that make you love your characters and make them your book boyfriend. When you love the heroine for healing your book boyfriend's heart...and you feel it. THAT IS AN EXCELLENT WRITER!!!
Thank you Lesley. Thank you for taking that leap and making your words dance.
PAGE ONE...it was over for me, sold sucked in. I KNEW I would love this. I was WHAT THE ?!!?!?! by the end of the first chapter.
After Each chapter I was dropping my jaw a bit more. Feeling's I didn't want to feel, emotions that just surface. This was all happening. I LOVED EVERY SECOND couldn't wait for more. Each turn of the page my love for this story my love for what I wanted to happen just grew stronger.
You know what I am saying that moment when you want something so bad to happen in a story. I think what I love even more is how one moment I am tossing my kindle, the next sentence I am laughing.
Max and Billie this Story , this life their journey it's so great. It's only made better by how it all happens. The side characters I am so in love with them. They make this story . Max's Mom , Karen oh I love her. Jake may be my new favorite (hot little crush I have on him too) . Just read it you'll see YOU WILL SEE!
Max Young might be a rockstar but he is also a son, friend, partner and father. Right from the very first page readers start to get to know him and yes he stuffs up at times but who doesn’t? I liked his honesty with others but especially with himself, loyalty to his friends, and deep love to his family, blood related or not. I simply liked him!
Billie Wild has spunk that I love and even though life has at times given her lemons, she’s made lemonade with a determination that is admirable. As her character develops in the story so too does the chemistry between Max and herself.
Amusing banter between characters makes for some laugh out loud moments. The humour in the story is at times sarcastic fun and at other moments there are times where you can’t help but giggle. It balances the more serious elements beautifully. Lots of drama brings out all of the emotions and I mean every single one. This very emotive story and there are times when my heart just about shattered and times when I felt fantastic as well.
The descriptions and expressions used by this author are on point and it’s extremely easy to visualise every scene, the whole book ran through my head like a movie reel- sensational stuff. And I want to go to a hair salon like the one Billie goes to- just saying!
I thoroughly recommend this amazing story to everyone.
Even still, I'll buy and read the next book in this series because some of the secondary characters could be interesting and there is no doubt in my mind that Lesley has the ability to create fantastic romances between great characters and the talent to write their beautifully crafted stories.

Favourite book of 2019... maybe new all time favourite EVER!
Lesley Jones has this amazing ability of transporting me into the pages and lives of the characters she so vividly writes.
It would normally take a series of books to get the feel for a group of people and side characters but, Lesley has done this in one PHENOMENAL story.
I am sooo in love with Max. I have a girl crush on Billie and a murderous rage for two other characters; boy does Mrs J know how to evoke the hate for some members of humanity !
The angst and love just burst from the pages. The plot is compelling and managed to get my devotion and attention from the first page. Oh Max *swoon.
You will be badgered and bullied into reading this book by me. It will be forever in my memory and another story to add to my reread list.
Buy it! Read it! Love it.
I am in awe of the passion Lesley puts in her writing, I absolutely loved this novel. Gritty, dark in places, soul lifting in others and with an unexpected wit that had me sniggering in places and howling in others. Such a good read, amazing writing as expected from Lesley and I’m on tenterhooks to see if there is another on the way! 5* read, if I could rate more I would.
This story may be about Max & Billie but within it Lesley involves her other characters which l love and she does this so well, this book gave me all sorts of feelings love, trust ,friendship, brotherhood, betrayal & redemption to make but a few, the one liners were fantastic and really had me laughing out loud and there was some beautiful passages that were straight from the heart
So will love be able to conquer all over many adversities and will Karma come calling ? why don’t you download it and see
This is Billie and Max's story which once I started I honestly couldn't put down. It was full of angst, romance, and lots of laughs as you would expect from Lesley Jones, she writes humour and her characters in the most unbelievable way so once you start reading them they never leave you or your heart. They are all part of the family that you learn to love as your own because these characters are written so real and from the heart.
I adored Max, this man, my heart went out to him so many times. I wanted to crawl inside the pages of this book and hug him so tight and tell him everything would be ok. He is an an amazing character to read and get to know.
Billie had been through the mill that's for sure. I couldn't help feeling sorry for her at first but what I loved about Billie was she grew stronger and wasn't afraid to stand up for herself and in the end I was cheering her on all the way.
So we have lots of angst and thrills, romance by the bucket and a little insta love with some steamy hot sex thrown in. Add a smidgen of taboo and this book is perfection.
Another bonus we always get with Lesley's books is some of her previous characters popping in to make an appearance which I always love. Never say never to a bit of Marley and Lennon, ah Marley - yum yum.
She has been away for two years but now she's back with a bang. READ this book, it is just the best.
Awesome stuff !!
Lesley Jones is an amazing author. She is so talented, her characters instantly grab a hold of your heart. By chapter 6 I was overcome with all the emotions! My heart was bursting for max and Billie and Layla. I laughed, I cried and I smiled so huge my jaw hurts! I love the fact that the characters are unashamedly emotional, I love that it brings characters in from other books by her and how she has made all her characters feel like you know them from just a few words they become your very own family. Brilliant book! Well done. I can not wait for my paperback now
Lesley Jones yet again gives us yet another absolutely fantastic smash hit story that makes you have ALL the feels while reading... I was hooked devouring every word and hated having to put it down to go to work while reading..desperate to know what was next for the mighty fit Max Young!
Max is part of a band.. hes had his troubles in the past but turns himself around when he gets married when he finds out hes going to be a dad!
When Layla enters the world hes besotted and loving being a dad then his world gets turned upside down for the worse until a blast from the past turns up on his doorstep and flips it back around again!
This story has it all.. love.. angst.. emotions.. a sexy rock star.. a kick ass heroine.. a lovable baby girl and friendships you would be envious of!
Love the story.. love the characters.. love the banter between friends.. loved it ALL!
Would highly recommend!
You meet and grow to love new characters including reformed bad boy rocker Max Young, Cal, Jake and Jay the members of YWR who have signed with the Carnage label.
This book concentrated on Max and the turmoil his life becomes he is at his lowest peak looking after his baby daughter. All his friends flock round him to help him survive fatherhood. He deserves happiness, he finds it but can he keep it, only time and good fortune will tell.
Again Lesley Jones hasn’t disappointed with her brilliant style of writing
