Made the overflow install on my 90 gallon all glass a piece of cake. Don't waste you time going to the big box hardware stores trying to guess what you need, the adjustable flow inlet setup it the way to go and you wont be able to make one easy using PVC. You can adjust it to take in the right amount of water to your sump and if the water level or your return pump stops, the air inlet and will stop the water when the overflow dips enough.
My only con was the dual flow did not work in my overflow box application (supposed to come out the left and right side of the box to go back into the tank). I had to route the flow nozzles into the right side and then bend one to go the left third of the tank... no big deal as long as the water gets back in there. My gyre does the work of the circulation.
Came here to find this set on Amazon and give it a five star rating for good performance, and it was only through reading the description that I realized the drain tubing was adjustable! Before finishing this review, I went right downstairs to our tank and adjusted the drain tube up about 3 inches to max the water level in the overflow partition area. Excellent!
Why didn't I know? Working too fast in a tight situation...
Last week the frame broke in our Oceanic 72 gallon bow front tank... after 16 years of use. Never had that happen before, and had to go purchase a long, flat-style vice to hold the tank together until we could get a replacement tank -- which was delivered yesterday. In turn, the kids and I spent the better part of six hours yesterday draining the old tank (into 15 five gallon pails from Home Depot), removing about 80 pounds of rock, catching the fish and getting them into the pails, disconnecting the old hoses (etc...), setting up the new tank, transferring the rock, water and fish, and then hooking everything back up.
This kit came with the new tank (thankfully), and I just did not realize that the drain tube was adjustable... we were in a hurry to get the fish back into the newly setup tank! Here is what was incuded:
* Adjustable drain pipe
* PVC return pipe
* 3/4 inch elbow
* 1 inch bulkhead (with gasket) for use with the drain pipe
* 3/4 inch bulkhead (with gasket) for use with the return pipe
* Air intake elbow
* 90 degree elbow
* Drain pipe base
* Strainer (fits on 90 degree elbow at top of drain pipe)
* Nozzle...Read more ›
