There's a thin love between love and hate.
You can hate the person you love for making you feel the things you are not ready to feel.
Luke shuts Tessa out. Yet, he wants her. She's all he wants... all he has to do is ask.
Holy-angst-heart-breaking feelings!! When you meet Luke and Tessa in Where I Belong you can tell their story will NOT be easy. It's not even gentle, not even a little bit. All the emotions floating between Luke and Tessa will get under your skin. It's going to heart. But Ms. Daniels makes the hurt feel good. Also, insanely sexy. I read the book in a day because I was afraid I would lose the connection unfolding.
I'm loving this series and I can't get enough. I'm anxious to dive into the next book. So yes, I continue to recommend this series and become an addict like the rest of us.
...have a desire to possess or do (something); wish for.
Sometimes just being that person that someone wants is enough. Then there are those other times...Times when no matter how hard and long you fight, someone simply wanting you is not enough.
This is a love story full of passion and angst that will not only leave you frantically entangled but drowning in your own anguish from simply experiencing the wretchedness of Luke and Tessa.
Luke Evans. Apprehensive. Enigmatic. Temperamental. Emotionally raw. Intensely wounded.
He is all of those things but yet, he is so much more. This is a man full of agony, heartache and sorrow. He's also afraid...afraid of love, afraid that the one person who made his heart beat again will be the same person to make it stop. He gives her bits and pieces hoping it will be enough. He pushes her away, never letting her get close enough. He never expected to find someone that would crawl into his skin so deeply that nothing or no one would be able to remove them.
Tessa Kelly does just that. She's beauteous, bubbly, ballsy and bold. Tenacious, impetuous and hasty.
She gets to him in ways no one has ever gotten to him. Being under his skin is simply not enough for her, she wants to be as permanent as the tattoos etching his skin. He is perfect for her and she is perfect for him but being perfect for each other no longer works for Tessa. She wants love, and not just the hearts and flowers kind. She wants love filled with immense emotion. No secrets, nothing held back. She wants every single piece of him plus some and she is relentless when it comes to getting what she wants.
Witnessing this s--- beast of a man fall in love completely, tortured soul and all --- has left me with a big, fat gaping hole in the middle of my heart! What started out as fun filled s--ual escapades and thrilling carnal adventures soon turns into an unforeseen breakup when hearts, futures and dreams become involved.
As always, J.Daniels delivers another beautifully written story but this one, this one shows vivid emotion. It will wrap around your heart, squeezing until it bursts open and stops beating right before she gives us exactly what we want...an emotionally wrecking happily ever after that brings us back to life. This is a love story that takes you, right along with the H/h, on a journey of a self discovery as they realize the true meaning of love and becoming exactly what each other, not only deserves but wants.
I was actually pretty disappointed because Tessa acted like a crazy nympho the entire book. She is the definition of extreme and has a love for the theatrics. I understand that she loves Luke and all that, but the insane blind dates just to get laid and trying to see other people was bugging me. Even Luke was annoying me too. They were together then they weren't. I'm all for "you want each other so much you literally can't keep your hands off the other person" but it was too much. I felt like Tessa's motivations were a little too sex driven. The girl had zero will power to turn down Luke. I would have like a bit more resistance when he messed up and left her crying and heartbroken.
I did not totally dislike this book. I liked that we still get to see a some of Mia and Ben. Oh and lets not forget the very cute Nolan. Tessa is still a funny character who says the most outlandish stuff. I like a feisty girl with a mouth on her and that's exactly the type of person Tessa is. It did not disappoint in the hot and steamy department that's for sure. The ending was very good.
I had high hopes for this book because I loved the first one so much. I much rather see Tessa as just a side character, but I did like Luke a lot and hearing his POV.
Isn't it amazing how being so deeply in love with someone makes you want to commit murder? If you have read book 1 of the Alabama Summer series, you'll be familiar with the train wreck that is Tessa and Luke. As Author J. Daniels points out, this book could be a standalone. But really, do yourself a favor and read book 1. You'll want the back story to see how deeply the two main characters feel.
The true mettle of a great author is that they immerse you in the character's world so deeply. You feel what they feel and turn to hope for a better ending. I'll tell you, I was feeling this. There were parts of the story where - toss a coin- I was going to slap the crap out of either character. Didn't matter. They were both so stubborn, pigheaded and closed off. Yep, I was going to throw the eBook at one point I was so frustrated with them. But, pause, isn't that the telling tale that the writing was stellar?
This is a must read series for me. I loved the character interactions from the previous stories continue to make the read enjoyable when I wasn't feeling murderous. I'm not an overly angsty person, so in rating against the others, not my top #1 book. However, its still a great read. A rollercoaster to HEA with some very, very sexy scenes. 4 out of 5 'ebook came out unscathed' stars.
