About the author

The most common way I'm introduced at book events is this: "Arthur Levine is the co-editor of J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter Books." That true! And I'm also the President and Editor-in-Cheif of Levine Querido, an idependent publisher dedicated to building a platform for previously under-represented voices and points of view. But from the "other side of the table" I write books too.
Here's the bio I have on my website: www.levinequerido.com:
Arthur A. Levine founded Levine Querido in April 2019, after a 23-year tenure as the President and Publisher of Arthur A. Levine Books, an imprint of Scholastic. He founded Arthur A. Levine Books in 1996, coming over from Knopf Books for Young Readers where he had been Editor in Chief. His determination to bring a diverse selection of "The Best of the World's Literature for Young People" to American readers was the guiding principal in all of AALB’s publishing since its beginnings, and continues to be the guiding light at Levine Querido. This mission resulted in the introduction to North American audiences of the work of great writers such as J. K. Rowling, Markus Zusak, Nahoko Uehashi, Daniella Carmi, Luis Sepúlveda, and Jaclyn Moriarty. Arthur sees this search for great writers from around the world as a continuum with Levine Querido’s search for diverse, powerful, unique voices and visions from the multitude of cultures closer to home. In addition to overseeing the company, Arthur edits between eight and ten books annually.
I have had poems published in Bay Windows, and Cricket Magazine among other places. And I've written a number of picture books including ALL THE LIGHTS IN THE NIGHT, a Sidney Taylor honor book, and most recently THE HANUKKAH MAGIC OF NATE GADOL, illustrated by Kevin Hawkes and published by Candlewick.

I bought this book for two reasons: I love collecting well-written books on Jewish holidays, and I admire Arthur A. Levine, who is best known as the American editor who discovered Harry Potter. This book is beautifully written and beautifully illustrated, and it makes a great addition to any library of Jewish children's books. Highly recommended.
The brothers travel by train and ship during Chanukah, and especially miss lighting their menorot and the delight of annual Chanukah stories and games. But from the deck of their ship, they consider the stars in the December night sky as their lights on this particular Festival of Lights.
My kids especially enjoyed this book when they were little.
