Well written, funny, sweet and with characters that are smart and respectful. Gotta love a good man and throw in friends to lovers?
Yep, it's a recommend.
This story focuses on Nat and Rhett. Nat is a city-dwelling girl with a love of the country, an independent, driven, unafraid, ball-busting lady and businesswoman who would be a great role model for any little girl. So strong and confident in herself as she is, she manages to find a man who values all of those things about her, and worships her. Rhett is a good man unto himself, with a big heart and love of animals, a rugged mountain man who is willing to ask for help and compromise when it counts. Both have been friends for years, secretly lusting after one another, and when they finally give in to their feelings, their marriage of convenience is no longer convenient, but messy, beautiful, and so hot!
Overall, I really loved this book! It plays with the marriage of convenience trope in a fun way, still silly, but it is owned. And it helps that they are friends first, with great respect and understanding for the other. The chemistry between them was amazing, and I loved seeing all the little moments between them. The secondary characters were lots of fun, especially the family for each, and I liked seeing more of the characters from book 1 in this series, as well as characters from another series by Skylar Hill. If you like your men rugged and devoted, with a connection as sweet as it is hot, then you need to get this book! Definitely one of my favorite friends to lovers books.
I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author. This is my honest and voluntary review of the book.
totally swoonworthy! Natalie is a wonderful character - I fell in love with her in All Worked Up, and she's even sassier and feistier here! She and Rhett set off all the smoke alarms in NYC in the prequel All Dressed Up (still free on Amazon), and their chemistry is still simmering after years of friendship.
The love story builds from a favor - Rhett's sanctuary is being hassled for the water rights and part of the claim can be countered if he was married. Natalie, the fixer, volunteers to be the bride, not realizing just how much she was risking her heart and, potentially, her career. The action scenes serve well to bring emotional clarity, and the addition of both of their dads was absolutely brilliant - hilarious, insightful, encouraging, they were invaluable to helping their children figure out what's important in life. Their love story is full of romance, heart, and soul-searching emotions, all built on a solid foundation of friendship.
Everything we want a love story to be, it's all here in All Loved Up. I loved it up eagerly, couldn't put it down, and will reread it again soon. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
The story is engaging, and I honestly came to love this couple. Clever, emotional, funny, and really such an underlying sweetness, passion aside, this is a very enjoyable and rewarding book. Their dad's are a total hoot btw. One of the strongest things going for both lead characters is that we get a sense of them as individuals, but also the strength of their friendship. Pretty awesome. My husband always says that I'm his best friend, which totally makes me smile, so I really am a fan of liking, and being friends with a partner. This couple feels real and grounded, and I was completely caught up in this book. Very highly recommended, and satisfying for sure. Be aware that it's hard to put down though! This is a voluntary review of an advance reader copy.
