“A great summer read, check out ALL OF ME.” (Romance Reviews Today)
About the Author
Jennifer Bernard is a graduate of Harvard and a former news promo producer. The child of academics, she confounded her family by preferring romance novels to . . . well, any other books. She left big city life for true love in Alaska, where she now lives with her husband and stepdaughters. She's no stranger to book success, as she also writes erotic novels under a naughty secret name not to be mentioned at family gatherings.

I have to start off with I love Jennifer Bernard's first series, the Bachelor Firemen of San Gabriel. So I knew this book would or should leave me smiling. However I think with All Of Me, Jennifer Bernard touched on some tough subjects, namely trust. Not just trust in others but trusting ourselves. Trust lies at the base of any love, so it's nice to see it touched on within All of Me in other ways. Caleb Hart, our hero, has not just trust issues but issues with surprises. While Sadie has her own issues with trusting men, and believe me she has a right to those issues. Both have a battle to fight to get to their HEA, some within themselves others with what life throws at them. I have to say I loved this story from beginning to end. The characters are well written and believable. The setting is wonderful and engaging in it's own way. The story flows easily and quickly. There are surprises and times you want to punch someone yourself. But mostly you'll fall in love with Caleb and root for Sadie. Fans of Ms. Bernard will find a new series to adore. Those new to Ms. Bernard's writing will find a book that is page-turningly fun, deeply engaging, and sexy enough to keep you smiling throughout the book. I highly recommend this one to any fan of Susan Mallery, Jennifer Ryan, Jill Shalvis, Emily March, and the list goes on. If you enjoy a great contemporary romance pick up ALL OF ME, you'll be glad you did!
What I loved about this book was the chemistry between Caleb and Sadie, and also how protective Caleb was of his brothers and sister. I would have liked to get to know them better, however. I also liked how career oriented and focused both were. I for sure didn't like any of the Wades, especially Hamilton. What he did to Sadie and continues to put her through is despicable. Why nobody reported the Facebook page or tried to get the video from him is beyond me. I didn't feel as though there was really any resolution when it came to that. All-in-all, this was a great start to the Love Between the Bases series, and I can't wait for more from this author.
Book 1 in this new series features the minor leagues, but the story lives up to major potential. Caleb Hart is a first-rate pitcher who’s lost his mojo. Inspiration comes in the form of Sadie Merritt, who after a bad break-up with a nasty ex, only wants to focus on work and definitely stay away from boys, especially hunky bad boys.
What brings Bernard’s stories to life are the relatable and likeable characters. We get into the psyche of Hart, and he’s a good guy:
“Caleb nodded, and handed him the ball. It felt like handing over a piece of his heart.”
For Sadie, staying away doesn’t come too easy when her job throws her together with Caleb for a PR campaign to “Save the Slugs,” and reform the image of the partying baseball team, Kilby Catfish.
“The last thing she wanted was to run into that ballplayer again. That half-naked hunk of a ballplayer. Annoyingly, he hadn’t even smelled bad, despite his sweaty state. He’d smelled like sun-heated flesh and oiled leather. He’d radiated furious energy, a kind of restless power, as if he wanted to shake up the world and put it back the way he wanted.”
Bernard takes readers on an emotional whirlwind as fast as Caleb’s 90 mph fastball. In a scene toward the end – no spoilers – I went from out-loud giggling to tears like that *snaps fingers*. It doesn’t matter that we know it’ll all work out. It’s the process that’s magical.
All of Me sets up the Love Between the Bases series. Next up, I’m hoping to find out more about her best friend Donna and player Mike. But you know how these authors are; she may make us wait a while for that story!
